Job description

POSITION SUMMARY
In accordance with DHS protocols, the armed guard force is responsible for all aspects of security operations supporting the command. This includes protecting personnel, property, facilities, and critical assets while maintaining strict entry control procedures. Officers ensure that unauthorized individuals, vehicles, vessels, and equipment are effectively deterred and denied access or exit.
This position is well-suited for prior military and law enforcement professionals seeking a structured, mission-focused environment where their experience directly supports the protection of critical operations. Officers play a key role in preventing and responding to threats such as theft, sabotage, disturbances, and other incidents that could impact facility security and continuity.
COMPENSATION
Fond Du Lac, WI
Hourly Rate: $28.99/hr
Health and Welfare: $5.52/hr
Training Rate: $18.00/hr
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide armed security and access control services
  • Protect government property, classified materials, and assigned personnel
  • Monitor and control entry and exit points within secured areas
  • Respond promptly to alarms, emergencies, and suspicious or unusual activity
  • Identify and address potential safety and security concerns proactively
  • Enforce all security and safety rules and report violations
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of post orders and operational procedures
  • Complete accurate incident reports and required documentation
  • Exert significant physical force when necessary (heavy work requirements)
  • Stand for extended periods, including 12-hour shifts
  • Work in both indoor and outdoor environments with frequent interruptions
  • Sit, stand, and walk for extended durations as required
  • Operate in extreme weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, snow, wind)
  • Work in high-noise and potentially hazardous environments, including proximity to firearms and machinery
  • Navigate stairs, ladders, uneven terrain, and inclines
  • Maintain required physical and psychological standards per contract
  • Travel may be required
  • Extended hours may include nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • U.S. Citizen or Lawful Permanent Resident with honorable military service
  • Minimum age of 21
  • Possess a valid Social Security Card
  • Minimum of two (2) years of armed security experience; OR
  • Minimum of one (1) year of full-duty law enforcement experience with a recognized agency; OR
  • Minimum of two (2) years of honorable service in any branch of the U.S. Armed Forces
  • Demonstrated proficiency with a handgun and ability to meet all firearms qualification standards
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English, including report writing
  • Familiarity with fixed-site security and access control operations
  • High School diploma or GED equivalent
  • Ability to pass background investigation, drug screening, physical exam, and MRPT suitability requirements
  • Strong professionalism, discipline, and situational awareness
