Job description

TITLE: SECURITY OFFICER/EMT
REVISED: August 1, 2022
APPROVED: October 1, 2024
The Security Officer/EMT, under the direction of the Security Sergeant, executes and enforces the Tribe's gaming operation's procedures, controls, and gaming regulations and laws. The Security Officer/EMT administers Basic Life Support care to sick and injured persons in a pre-hospital setting within the scope of his/her training and state EMT/National Registry license.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Patrols all aspects associated with Eagle Mountain Casino to provide emergency care, prevent and discover crimes, maintain order, and answer calls and complaints.
  2. Escorts money, chip fills, and machine and hand-written tickets carried by casino Team Members.
  3. Stands guard on drop and count activities.
  4. Assures safety of Team Members and guests while on the casino premises, and other areas of the reservation as determined by management.
  5. To remain mobile at all times in securing all areas of the casino.
  6. Cooperate with, and enforce all regulations, laws, and procedures of all casino departments and outside law enforcement agencies.
  7. Escort guests and Team Member, as needed.
  8. Escort guests determined to be detrimental to the casino on or off the casino property, when requested by the casino management, Gaming Agency, and/or their authorized representative personnel.
  9. Communicates with 911/TCAD, hospital, and other medical personnel in person and by radio/telephone.
  10. Assesses the nature and extent of illness or injury to establish and prioritize medical procedures to be followed or need for additional assistance.
  11. Administers initial BLS treatment at emergency scenes.
  12. Takes and records patient's vital signs, while awaiting EMS.
  13. Keeps current on treatment techniques, protocol changes, and application of new drugs, material, and equipment.
  14. Requisitions and restocks supplies, material, and equipment.
  15. Prepares required reports and maintains records of activities.
  16. Ensure compliance of all department policies and procedures.
  17. Must attend and be certified in all applicable training programs required.
  18. All other departmental duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
  1. The minimum age is 21.
  2. Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  3. Must have a current California Guard Card, or the ability to obtain one within 90 days of hire.
  4. Displays willingness to make decisions; exhibits sound and accurate judgment; supports and explains reasoning for decisions; includes appropriate people in decision-making process.
  5. A valid driver's license is preferred.
  6. Must possess a valid and current California State EMT-1A and/or an EMT 1 National Registry License and have CPR/AED certificates.
  7. Must pass pre-employment drug and alcohol screen.
  8. Must be able to maintain confidentiality.
  9. Excellent guest service skills.
  10. Must have strong communication skills.
  11. Must have strong report writing skills.
  12. Must be professional, polite, and respectful towards guests.
  13. Must be able to handle extended hours when needed.
  14. Must have excellent interpersonal skills with demonstrated patience, tact, and respect.
  15. Must attend and participate in all training necessary to maintain certification and improve job skills.
  16. Law enforcement or security background preferred.
  17. Ability to read, write clearly and informatively, comprehend documents pertaining to security policies & procedures, rules & regulations, and operating instructions.
  18. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent problems.
  19. The ability to take directions and follow orders.
  20. Able to obtain and retain a gaming license through the Tule River Tribe Gaming Commission.

PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL:
  1. While performing the duties of this job, the Team Member is regularly required to walk, talk, hear, stand, and sit.
  2. Repeatedly required to use hand to finger, reach with hands, arms and handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls.
  3. Occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  4. Must be able to operate in mentally and physically stressful situations.
  5. Must be able to lift and carry up to 100 pounds.
  6. Must be able to perform in outdoor environments with frequent exposure to unpredictable weather conditions including heat, rain, cold, and wind.
  7. This position may require the movements and strength to incapacitate or subdue other persons for the protection of safety of self and others.
  8. This position will require the strength to lift a person.
  9. This job also may require the use of a vehicle, and the Team Member must be able to have those repetitive motions and coordination associated with operating a motor vehicle.
  10. Must be able to work in a noisy and smoke-filled environment.
  11. The noise level is moderate to high on the casino floor, or around equipment, fire trucks, lights, and sirens.
  12. Exposed daily to flashing lights and ringing bells while on the casino floor.
  13. Exposed to smells, cleaning chemicals, blood, body fluids, viruses, and other exposures associated with providing medical care.
  14. Must be able to perform all essential duties of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
