The Opportunity

We are seeking a Lead Protection and Control Technician who thrives in complex environments, leads with confidence, and brings hands-on expertise to missioncritical projects. In this role, you'll take ownership of commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting advanced protective relaying schemes across generation, transmission, and distribution substations.

What You'll Do

  • Lead commissioning, installation, and maintenance of protective relaying equipment, DFRs, SCADA systems, and automation systems.
  • Perform advanced endtoend relay testing using Doble Protection Suite, Omicron Test Universe, and RTS.
  • Execute functional and scheme testing: reclosing, breaker failure, advanced logic, and communicationassisted protection schemes.
  • Troubleshoot and optimize protocols including DNP3, Modbus, 8979, using tools such as Wireshark, Accelerator, and ASE 2000.
  • Develop and refine standardized commissioning and testing procedures.
  • Mentor junior technicians and oversee field execution for safety and quality.
  • Partner with clients, vendors, and engineering teams to deliver worldclass reliability.

Preferred Experience

  • 5+ years field experience in relay testing, calibration, and substation commissioning without direct supervision.
  • Expertise in threephase power systems, protection schemes, and SCADA integration.
  • Proficiency with Omicron, Doble, Vanguard, and related test equipment.
  • Skilled in RTS, Test Universe, Protection Suite, and Accelerator.
  • Strong leadership, problemsolving, and communication skills.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel.
