Senior Installation Technician - Access Control Systems

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Senior Access Control Installation Technician to lead and support the installation, configuration, testing, and commissioning of commercial Access Control systems across customer sites. This role is responsible for ensuring high-quality system deployments while providing technical guidance to junior team members and supporting successful project delivery.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on technician with strong troubleshooting skills, field installation experience, and the ability to work independently or lead installation activities on larger projects.

Access Control Technician Key Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and commission Access Control systems in commercial environments
• Perform device installation, low-voltage cabling, terminations, control panel installation, and system setup
• Read and interpret construction drawings, project plans, and installation documentation
• Configure Access Control hardware, field devices, controllers, and supporting equipment
• Test, troubleshoot, and validate system functionality prior to project completion
• Serve as an on-site lead technician when required, coordinating installation teams and subcontractors
• Provide project status updates and communicate field conditions to project stakeholders
• Work closely with project and technical teams to resolve installation and commissioning issues
• Maintain accurate documentation, labeling, and project records
• Ensure all work is completed in accordance with company standards, customer requirements, and applicable regulations
• Maintain professional interactions with customers, contractors, and other trades
• Travel to project locations as required

Required Experience & Skills

• 5+ years of experience installing and supporting commercial Access Control systems
• Strong understanding of Access Control hardware, system components, and device integration
• Experience with low-voltage cabling and installation best practices
• Ability to diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and connectivity issues
• Ability to independently complete installations from initial device installation through system commissioning
• Comfortable working in construction and active commercial environments
• Strong communication, organizational, and documentation skills
• Experience leading, training, or mentoring other technicians

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with integrated security systems
• Basic networking and IP device knowledge
• Experience supporting large-scale commercial projects
• Industry certifications or manufacturer training
• Lift certification or willingness to obtain

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
• Ability to climb ladders and operate lifts
• Comfortable working above ceilings, in confined spaces, and outdoor environments as needed
• Ability to stand, walk, and perform physical installation work for extended periods

Work Requirements

• Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record
• Ability to pass background and pre-employment screening requirements
• Professional appearance and customer-focused attitude
• Willingness to travel as required
