Job Description:
MDM Entertainment is on the lookout for a talented and meticulous Assistant Props Manager to augment our vibrant team on a part-time basis. This role is pivotal in assisting with the conceptualization, design, fabrication, and installation of inventive props and scenic designs for a diverse array of events. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail, a passion for creating immersive environments, and the ability to lead projects from conception to execution.
Responsibilities:
  • Assist in designing and fabricating inventive props and scenic concepts that align with the client's vision, event theme, and budget.
  • Aid in sourcing, constructing, maintaining, and managing props and set pieces, ensuring they are prepared for events and adhere to quality standards.
  • Work in tandem with the event production team, clients, and vendors to ensure the smooth integration of scenic elements and props into overall event designs.
  • Support the setup and strike of scenic designs and props at event venues, observing safety protocols and timelines.
  • Help maintain an inventory of props and scenic materials, ensuring proper inventorying, storage and transportation.
  • Contribute to managing multiple projects simultaneously, assisting with task prioritization, procurement, and resource allocation to adhere to deadlines and budgets.
  • Keep abreast of industry trends, technologies, and materials to contribute to innovative and enhanced event designs.
  • Collaborate effectively with clients and cross-functional teams, demonstrating strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Qualifications:
  • Pursuing or holding a Bachelor's degree in Theatre, Scenic Design, Fine Arts, or a related field.
  • 1-2 years in props management, scenic design, or a similar role within the event production, theater, or entertainment industry is preferred.
  • A budding portfolio that showcases creativity and skill in scenic design and fabrication.
  • Familiarity with design and production software such as Fusion360, AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, and Vectorworks.
  • A foundational understanding and skill set in painting, carpentry, welding, foam sculpting, sewing, 3D printing and other construction and fabrication techniques.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to support multiple projects in a dynamic environment.
  • A collaborative spirit with a detail-oriented approach and a knack for creative problem-solving.
  • Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, to accommodate event schedules.
  • Physical capability to assist on-site with the setup and breakdown of scenic elements.
