Job Description:

Job Summary
The Cement Engineer monitors cement blend performance, designs, and directs testing of cement blend processing procedures, designs quality assurance tests, evaluates technical specifications and costs relating to product or process design objective, and regularly collaborates with Cement Laboratory Technicians, Cement Coordinators, and customers to ensure cement blends meet all job requirements.
Responsibilities

  • Monitor cement blend performance
  • Analyze product failure data and laboratory test results to troubleshoot issues with cement blends
  • Design and direct testing of cement blend processing procedures
  • Design quality assurance tests for testing raw materials and cement blends
  • Evaluate technical specifications and costs relating to product or process design objectives
  • Design appropriate methods for joining materials used in cement blending processes
  • Review new product plans and make recommendations for material selection based on customer objectives
  • Plan and implement laboratory operations to develop procedures that meet cost, product specification, and performance standards
  • Collaborate with Cement Laboratory and leadership to plan and evaluate new projects when necessary
  • Communicate daily with Cement Laboratory team to assign blends for production
  • Communicate regularly with Cement Coordinators and customers for information concerning upcoming jobs and to keep current on necessary cement blends
  • Maintain communication with vendors for pricing information
  • Work closely with the Cement Sales team to generate new Requests for Quotes (RFQs)
  • Maintain compliance with Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies by attending all required HSE training sessions, safety meetings, and always utilize proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering preferred (Chemical Engineering desired)
  • Previous cement or chemical engineering experience preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to effectively interact with customers, vendors, and personnel at all levels of the organization
  • Highly collaborative, able to successfully work with a team to accomplish a common goal
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills; able to gather, interpret, and utilize relevant data
  • Personable, professional, and customer service oriented
  • Must be available to take calls outside of normal working hours
  • Must be flexible and able to work remotely when necessary
  • Proficient working in Microsoft Office 365 applications, can quickly learn other work related software
