As part of Allstate Investments' Tax Credit & Impact Investments team, the candidate will be supporting the underwriting, analysis, execution, and ongoing asset management of low-income housing and clean energy tax credit investment strategies. The candidate will work closely with senior investment staff across a wide range of responsibilities, including financial modeling, due diligence, transaction evaluation, portfolio monitoring, and the preparation of investment approval materials. They will engage regularly with internal partners-such as tax, accounting, and legal teams-as well as external fund sponsors and stakeholders to gather market intelligence, manage consent processes, and support annual tax credit budgeting and reporting requirements. The role also contributes to broader impact and ESG initiatives, including Sustainability Report disclosures, system and reporting enhancements, and exploration of new credit opportunities.
The position is based in Chicago, IL and will be in the office 3 days per week. Limited travel will be required.
Key Responsibilities
  • Support senior investment staff in the underwriting, analysis and execution of transactions.
  • Gather/maintain market intelligence through regular communication with existing sponsors and potential new relationships
  • Review investment fund opportunities brought by existing and potential new sponsors for discussion with portfolio manager
  • Complete investment recommendation selection and due diligence of investment opportunities
  • Prepare investment approval recommendation and due diligence material of investments
  • Assess and prepare approval recommendation of annual tax credit budgeting
  • Manage internal relationships with tax and accounting as well as internal/external legal counsel
  • Review and coordinate approval of fund consent requests
  • Compile quarterly portfolio monitoring of investment performance
  • Annual review of LIHTC portfolio exposure at property level and completion of fund benefit schedule projection updates
  • Identify and assist in implementation of internal system reporting and portfolio monitoring improvements
  • Support of Sustainability Report disclosures and KPIs
  • Integration of LIHTC, Clean energy & other credits into risk-return and economic capital frameworks
  • Research potential expansion to other types of credits
  • Ad-hoc assistance on ESG integration efforts and due diligence on real estate-related impact opportunities
  • Assist in special projects from time to time that support the team

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience; May also have an advanced degree and/or CFA
  • 3+ years' experience of related experience, including investing or structuring investing in: LIHTC, Tax credit or Real Estate

Compensation
Base compensation offered for this role is $124,000.00 - $162,000.00 annually and is based on experience and qualifications.
