Job description

Title: Property Steward

Reports to: Hospitality 

Primary Location: Promontory Winery 

Supervisory Responsibilities: None

Exempt (   )   Non-Exempt (x)

OBJECTIVE:  The Property Steward is responsible for the aesthetic preservation of the Promontory property aiding with the daily operations of the winery and all special events at Promontory.  The Property Steward will provide a high level of service in fulfilling these tasks with an exceptional attention to detail. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  

  • Provide on-site aesthetic, tidiness, and functional maintenance for the property to the highest standard
  • Support with choreographing hospitality activity throughout the day
  • Assist in preparing visit accoutrements daily. Including but not limited to wine, parmesan, and grissini
  • Ensure hospitality areas, including tasting rooms, and the necessary hospitality equipment, is clean, functional, and stocked at all times
  • Coordinate and assist in set-up and clean-up of special events and visits as necessary
  • Provide support, when needed, with hospitality activity at Harlan Estate and BOND.
  • Assist with monthly wine and non-wine inventory
  • Responsible for unloading and re-stocking wine throughout various storage locations 
  • Coordinate inventory and restock of all hospitality material and tools and break room needs for both winemaking and hospitality teams
  • Communicate low inventory levels of supplies and equipment needed to Hospitality team
  • Coordinate with facilities & maintenance team for specific maintenance needs in a timely manner
  • Assist with coordinating lunches for winery staff during harvest. 
  • Clean and sanitize restrooms, windowsills, windows, sinks, countertops, microwaves, and refrigerators in all areas, and polish furniture and fixtures. 
  • Vacuuming, shampooing, sweeping, and mopping of flooring and stairs.
  • On occasion, strip, seal, finish, and polish floors. 
  • Dust furniture, walls, machines, and equipment. 
  • Empty all trash cans and replace liners.
  • Recycle corrugated boxes and glass
  • Assist in the movement and relocation of furniture, equipment and machinery as required.
  • Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment, to prevent damage to floors and fixtures. 
  • Proper labeling, dilution, and use of all chemicals.
  • Maintain janitor closets in a clean, organized, and safe manner and ensure janitorial equipment stored in a clean, safe, and operable condition
  • Always wear proper Personal Protective Equipment
  • Monitor building security and safety by performing such tasks as locking doors after operating hours and checking electrical appliance use to ensure that hazards are not created. 
  • Drive winery vehicle, on occasion  

NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performs all related duties as assigned
  • Constant communication and coordination with concierge and hospitality team

 QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum high school degree or equivalent
  • A minimum of four (4) years’ experience working for a luxury property
  • Strong communication skills
  • Detail and service oriented
  • Proactive, honest and trustworthy
  • Ability to work under pressure and work independently
  • Self-motivated
  • Team player with a positive attitude
  • Valid California driver’s license

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Lift and handle materials weighing up to 50 lbs.
    • Stand on hard surface for extended periods
    • Grasp, stoop, squat, climb stairs, push or pull, carry, and reach over shoulder

These figures represent what we reasonably expect to pay for this position, but the actual compensation offered will depend upon numerous job-related factors, including but not limited to candidate qualifications, skills, experience, education, location, and alignment with market data.
