Position Summary Information
Job Goal
Provides security for faculty, staff, students, and visitors for the college campus. Provides basic public assistance services as needed, and performs routine security and public safety patrol duties. Remains alert to emergency situations and provides first-line response, emergency management, and/or referral if required.
Duties and Responsibilities
Maintain security and safety of people and property on campus by patrolling buildings, common areas, and parking lots.
Watches for and reports irregularities, such as security breaches, facility and safety hazards, and emergency situations; contacts emergency responders, such as police, fire, and /or ambulance personnel, as necessary.
Remains alert for the presence of unauthorized persons and/or security code violators; approaches suspicious persons and/or notifies police as appropriate.

Answer requests from individuals who are leaving campus and want someone to accompany them to their vehicle.

Acts as a point of contact for assistance on campus for routine information.

Work cooperatively with maintenance and other college personnel.

Close campus facilities including security checks on all interior and exterior doors and openings.

Provide monthly checks on emergency supplies, AEDs, emergency eye wash stations and showers, fire extinguishers and emergency lights in all buildings.
Maintain a log of interventions and incidents, during assigned duty time. Complete incident reports as required.
Maintain active and timely communication with NICC supervisor regarding campus incidents and security issues and reports.

Maintain open communication with local law enforcement personnel as needed.
Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Experience in law enforcement, security and emergency procedures, and safety plans and precautions preferred.
CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES:
Must possess a valid driver's license.
Essential Functions
Ability to relate to persons of all ages. Effective communication skills. Knowledge and ability to handle emergency situations calmly and with proficiency. Ability to work cooperatively with campus personnel and follow established protocol as well as college policies and procedures. Must be able to clear background checks.
