Job description

In search of a full-time Property Accountant in our Shelton, CT corporate office. This role is a vital part of the companyโ€™s financial management process, which includes ensuring proper record keeping, adherence to established procedures, and keeping control of company assets. This is a fantastic opportunity for a professional who thrives in a busy workplace, is well-versed in accrual accounting and enjoys working closely with management.


This position is Full-Time, In-Office

Standard work schedule is Mon-Fri 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM but the option to work Mon-Thurs (10 hour shifts) is available once trained.


Responsibilities:

  • Prepare financial statements to support reporting & tax compliance of company business & financial position.
  • Complete monthly close processes, bank reconciliations, & financial statement review.
  • Maintain general ledger & ensure proper posting of all transactions. Resolve discrepancies by collecting & analyzing account information.
  • Prepare journal entries and supporting reconciliations.
  • Maintain accounts payable, accounts receivable, & payroll tasks.
  • Assist in year-end tax/audit preparation of financial information for outside auditors/regulatory authorities.
  • Assist in planning & reviewing budget preparation.
  • Reconcile intercompany accounts.
  • Process capital expenditure reimbursement requests from lenders.
  • Utilize Excel spreadsheets & database tools to ensure proper financial record keeping.
  • Update current SOPโ€™s to reflect changes to accounting department procedures.
  • Exhibit a strong interest in the continuous improvement of the accounting & reporting process to improve Department efficiency.

Requirements:

  • Strong accrual accounting knowledge
  • Intermediate/advanced knowledge of Microsoft Suite โ€“ emphasis on Excel
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and work independently to meet deadlines
  • Attention to detail and swift adaptability
  • Courteous & professional interpersonal skills necessary to communicate effectively with senior management, investors, lenders, property managers and vendors
  • Property accounting experience preferred

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years experience in the accounting field.
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in accounting required.
