Role Description - Provide Electrical & Instrumentation Engineering design, support, management, and implementation to all refinery electrical & instrumentation infrastructure new and existing. Position also includes providing engineering support to maintenance and operations to keep the electrical integrity of the refinery and its associated terminals to minimize downtime of equipment and daily operational activities.

Position Description - Essential Functions, Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide Design work and Project Management for all new Electrical & Instrumentation projects. Design work includes AutoCAD electrical drawings, electrical bid packages, ordering of all electrical items and components, and management for electrical contractors and plant maintenance personnel.
  • Provide electrical knowledge and support to existing electrical infrastructure at the refinery. This work may require knowledge of High voltage electrical substations, AC motors and control circuits, lighting, and other power requirements to various electrical equipment. This position includes providing design and installation of equipment with voltages ranging from 34,500 Volts to 120/240 Volts on the AC side and on the Instrumentation side voltages in the 12 to 24 DC ranges.   Work includes providing new design ideas, project implementation, startup and checkout assistance, and power outage support.
  • Understanding of the National Electrical Code (NEC) will be required for new designs and installations.
  • Coordinate various power switching and outages, and perform new electrical equipment tie-ins, electrical safety and start-up procedures

  • This is an on-site position - remote/hybrid work is not available for this position.

    Competencies/Skills

    ·        Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

    ·        Strong aptitude and sound understanding in the principles of Power and Control systems and networks.

    ·        Well rounded knowledge in industry standards and practices

    ·        Fluent in the use of personal computer software, especially Microsoft Excel, Word, and Powerpoint, and AutoCAD software.

    ·        Ability to quickly comprehend technical requirements and issues, and resolve to meet refinery and project guidelines.

    ·        Ability to communicate with coworkers in several other Company departments including Operations, Maintenance, Safety, Inspection, and Senior Management.

    ·        Ability to participate and present information in meetings with peers and Senior Management.

    Work Environment

    ·        While daily activities are based in an office environment, there will be regular interaction and participation in activities that require a presence in a shop or field environment.

    ·        There will be periods that require more than 40 hours per week, including weekends.

    Physical Demands Moderate. However, field activities can include entry into confined spaces, navigating among field equipment and piping, and ladder/stair access to structural platforms.  Exposure to construction areas should be expected and common. Field activities will require Personnel Protection Equipment (PPE).
