Propane Department/HVAC Manager

About Freedom Ag & Energy

Freedom Ag & Energy is a farmer-owned cooperative serving communities across Virginia, West Virginia, and Maryland. We provide agricultural products, home and garden supplies, pet and animal health products, outdoor recreation items, and a rapidly growing energy division serving both residential and commercial customers.

Position Summary:

The Propane Department/HVAC Manager is a key management position that will oversee and manage the daily operation of a Propane Department that also provides residential HVAC maintenance and installations, provide technical expertise and leadership to develop and lead a high-performing team. Implement strategic initiatives to meet or exceed sales, margin, and growth objectives, while ensuring operational efficiency and adherence to safety and compliance standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage daily operations for the energy department
  • Lead and provide guidance to the energy team
  • Execute a strategic petroleum/HVAC operations plan
  • Conduct all monthly and annual bulk and storage plant inspections
  • Oversee energy operations including receiving, inventory integrity, and customer deliveries.
  • Responsible for fleet asset management and DOT requirements.
  • Execute staffing plans that accommodate seasonal volume changes
  • Identify and remove obstacles to ensure team efficiency, productivity, and effectiveness
  • Handle various office functions including billing, receiving, payables and payroll for the department.
  • Qualifications:Required
  • Education: Requires a bachelor’s degree in business management or related field. A combination of completed coursework and relevant experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
  • Experience: Minium of 3 years of related experience in propane, petroleum or related industry. Requires a minimum of one (1) year in a leadership role. Prefer previous experience managing daily business operations.
  • Licensing & Certification: Requires valid Driver's License. CDL / hazmat endorsement (or ability to obtain), Petroleum and/or Propane Certification (or ability to obtain), Master HVAC or Master Plumbing License (or ability to obtain), CTEP training/ proctor (or ability to obtain)
