Summary
The Copy Editors are in charge of proof reading the entire paper before publication. They will also assist Xavierite staff members improve the writing style of their article before publication.
This student employment opportunity supports the development of skills aligned with the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) Career Readiness Competencies. Through this role, students will strengthen the following competencies:

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • In charge of proof reading all articles that will run in The Xavierite publication and on the official website following the AP style.
  • Proof reads rough draft tear sheets of the newspaper and magazine
  • Assists staffers with writing and style of article when necessary
  • Informs Editor-in-Chief when stories are not turned in on time
  • Attend general staff meetings
  • Maintain weekly-posted office hours in The Xavierite office (5 hours per week).
  • Checks and edits content for accuracy of style throughout the entire paper and E-magazine
  • Checks for libelous and litigious statements.

Qualifications
MUST BE A STUDENT AT SAINT XAVIER UNIVERSITY
Must be Federal Work Study Eligible
Must Include a Resume and Cover Letter
Preference in journalism, communication, or English.
