Job Description

The Duopoly Producer's primary responsibilities are to produce, organize and coordinate all elements involved in creating and producing a fast-paced live daily lifestyle broadcast in Miramar, Fl.  This individual will work closely with the lifestyle programming Executive Producer, Sr. Producer, Associate Producer, Booking Producer, Hosts, Reporters and Photog/Editor.  They must be a team leader with the ability to bring everyone together for a common goal, while leading with respect and integrity. They must have a comprehensive understanding of television and digital production, with outstanding bilingual (English/Spanish) written and verbal communication skills.  The ideal candidate must also have connections and networking skills, knowledge of editing systems, camera operation and experience backtiming a show from control room during live broadcast. They must also have the ability to write copy, edit video, produce and gather content under heavy deadline pressure, without compromising accuracy or credibility. Must be willing to react to last minute changes and adjust rundown accordingly, contribute story ideas daily, create graphics, assign & edit copy, produce other lifestyle shows & specials, communicate and collaborate with the news department and help with news coverage and breaking news when needed.

Responsibilities:

  • This individual will work with the NBC6/Telemundo51 duopoly lifestyle production team to produce South Florida Live, Miami/Ft. Lauderdale's live daily lifestyle, entertainment and community show. They will also collaborate with, contribute to, help produce and/or oversee production of additional lifestyle programs such as Acceso Total and Conectados Con Daisy.  
  • Must be bilingual with the ability to write and review scripts in English and Spanish, and will fill in as producer or associate producer for other lifestyle shows, duopoly specials, news and breaking news as needed.  
  • Must be highly organized with excellent time management skills to be able to sort through hundreds of e-mails and pitches daily to determine best interviews to book and stories to package that align with show's brand/audience.  They will also manage the show's production calendar for easy tracking, collaboration and execution.
  • Responsible for seeking and cultivating stories by working closely with booking producer to approve booking of quality interview guests daily, gathering elements (video and graphics) for packaged stories as well as staying on top of relevant and timely daily show headlines/content.
  • Must manage content creation across web and social media platforms, identifying growth opportunities to boost followers and maintain an accurate, regularly updated website.
  • Determine graphic elements necessary to enhance story, request these through the system providing clear direction to art department for best results.
  • Must be able to pitch, select, coordinate, and produce live on-location shows and special projects/initiatives of the show.
  • Should research story ideas that are evergreen in nature, to build up a bank of pre-produced and evergreen content.
  • Should recognize potential stories and plan ahead working closely with Executive Producer and Sr. Producer to keep the shows fresh, engaging and increase ratings and revenue opportunities.
  • Will build the rundowns and work ahead daily as well as write headlines and promo teases.
  • Will work closely with the sales integration producer to coordinate sponsored segments, as well as pitch segment ideas that can be sponsored.  
  • Works with editors daily to ensure show deadlines are met, including executing editing projects in advance and provide detailed edit notes.
  • Will cut show daily and work with digital producers to upload content and assure website is up to date.
  • Will keep news and digital departments informed about shows projects including those that will work across multiple platforms and prioritized symphony projects.
  • Fill in/Assist news department during breaking news/hurricanes/holidays, as needed.
Qualifications
  • Degree in Broadcasting, Journalism or related field
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience producing in a broadcast or cable news environment
  • English & Spanish language proficiency (reading and writing)
  • Able to work a Flexible Schedule and shifts including evenings, overnights, weekends and holidays
  • Must be willing to work in Miramar, FL
  • Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States
  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Knowledge and understanding of various media platforms, including broadcast, web, social and OTT
  • Curate and upload content for OTT platforms / digital properties
  • Experience as an entertainment or news producer in a major market for television.
  • Must be willing to fill the role of associate producer on an as-needed or scheduled basis
