WHAT YOU'LL CONTRIBUTE TO THE TEAM

Are you a detail-oriented construction professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment? 

We're looking for a Mechanical Project Coordinator to join our growing team and support the successful delivery of mechanical construction projects within the Industrial, Commercial, and Institutional (ICI) construction sector. From HVAC and plumbing systems to process piping and mechanical retrofits, you'll work closely with Project Managers, subcontractors, suppliers, and clients to ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys problem-solving, collaboration, and building strong relationships in the construction industry.

As a Mechanical Project Coordinator, you will:

  • Support Project Managers in planning, execution, and successful delivery of mechanical construction projects
  • Assist with project scheduling, milestone tracking, and progress monitoring using standard software systems
  • Help manage project budgets, cost forecasting, change orders, and margin projections
  • Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, vendors, and internal project teams
  • Prepare and distribute project progress reports and schedules
  • Facilitate shop drawing reviews and approvals between vendors, owners, and project stakeholders
  • Assist in contract administration, including revisions and negotiations with clients and subcontractors
  • Support quality control initiatives to ensure project excellence
  • Build and maintain customer and supplier/vendor relationships
  • Participate in and assisting with toolbox talks
  • Support a strong safety culture on every job site and ensure compliance with PPE requirements and safety procedures
  • Ensure project documentation is maintained and organized through Procore
  • Coordinate materials, equipment purchases, tools, and resources for active projects
  • Assist in preparing Operation and Maintenance Manuals for project closeout
  • Collaborate with electrical and other project teams on multi-disciplinary projects
  • Travel to project sites as required to support project activities
  • Independently coordinate and manage smaller projects when applicable

      WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

      You are a Mechanical-focused coordinator with experience in the ICI Construction industry with a good foundational understanding of project management from a contractor's perspective. You bring:

      • A university degree in mechanical engineering; OR
      • A college diploma/program in construction management or a related field; OR
      • Equivalent industry experience as a skilled trades person
      • 2-5 years of experience in the construction industry (preferably experience with commercial/institutional projects); experience as a field superintendent, project coordinator, or estimator would be an asset

      SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

      • Strong proficiency in:
        • Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Project)
        • Construction scheduling and project planning
        • Budget tracking and cost management
        • Document control systems such as Procore
      • Knowledge of construction business processes and project execution methodologies
      • Excellent communicator with strong written and verbal skills
      • Proficient knowledge and understanding of:
        • Construction scheduling, planning, and execution.
        • Business operations processes.
      • Exceptional organization and time management abilities
      • Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills
      • A commitment to teamwork and collaboration
      • Available to travel to site when necessary

      The expected salary range for this role is between $70,000 and $85,000. The starting salary will be based on several factors such as the successful candidate's qualifications, including but not limited to education and experience. Salary is one component of Black & McDonald's total rewards package. Total rewards vary by position and may include additional offerings such as group insurance benefits, pension plan, annual performance bonus, career development programs, and other HR programs.
