Job description

At Dollywood Parks & Resorts, we create memories worth repeating! We are seeking a Lighting and Projection Technician who will embody the heart and soul of our mission of creating memories worth repeating while bringing families closer together while caring deeply about our brand.
We want to work alongside someone who acts as an extension of our mission, values, and culture. The ideal Lighting and Projection Technician will be equal parts curious learner, innovator, administrator, detail driver, mentor, and motivator.
This role exists to provide Dollywood's Entertainment Department with a high level of entertainment technicians who work in guest view to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair all aspects of entertainment lighting, sound, and video systems within the Dolly Parton Experience which spans across multiple facilities. Dolly Parton Experience Technicians will also oversee A/V control systems software. Technicians filling this position will deliver excellence to the Dolly Parton Experience through unparalleled attention to detail, theater-like etiquette, and professionalism. This position is demanding and is also essential for exemplary quality and for elevated guest experiences for Dollywood Parks and Resorts.
Additionally, the ideal candidate will be able display and live out Lead with Love qualities, strongly rooted in the Dollywood Company culture, by being patient, kind, trusting, unselfish, truthful, forgiving, dedicated and accountable.
Summary of Essential Functions and Responsibilities
  • Perform primary technician duties as assigned, making calculated and situational decisions to
    complete tasks in a responsible time for Dollywood Parks and Resorts Entertainment Department
  • Work with themed indoor and outdoor lighting, sound, atmospheric effects, video, and microclimate systems. Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair entertainment lighting control systems, static lighting fixtures, moving head fixtures, professional sound systems, video projection systems and DMX infrastructure issues as well as DMX controlled fixtures
  • Maintain entertainment equipment and systems infrastructure
  • Set up, troubleshoot, diagnose networking infrastructure
  • Troubleshoot, and diagnose common line voltage problems and submit repair requests as necessary
  • Able and willing to share knowledge and best use cases with other technical team members
  • Wear Dollywood Entertainment provided costume or uniform
  • Assist in other areas of Entertainment Division as directed
  • Assist in maintaining equipment to meet high safety standards and safe use conditions
  • Maintain an orderly, neat, safe, and well-maintained workspace
  • Drive company vehicles (cars, vans, trucks) to transport personnel and/or task supply items
  • Maintain strict confidentiality regarding communication and all information, about Dolly Parton's personal or professional life, her public and non-public visits to Dollywood and her public and private dealings with Dollywood and/or HFE between all parties outside of this position's reporting structure

Education and Experience Required
  • Minimum 18 years of age
  • High School diploma required
  • Must have experience with entertainment and/or architectural lighting fixtures
  • Knowledge of entertainment and/or architectural lighting control infrastructure and control systems
  • Knowledge of installation, operation and repair of modern moving-light fixtures preferred
  • Experience with video projection and video mapping strongly preferred
  • Knowledge and experience with Christie laser source projectors preferred
  • Experience with lighting control systems, audio control systems preferred
  • Working knowledge of electricity preferred
  • Experience with ETC architectural control systems like Paradigm and Mosaic preferred
  • Experience with industry specific software such as VectorWorks, QLab, QSys, and Dante preferred
  • Must be able to operate a computer and be knowledgeable of general use programs such as Outlook,Word and Excel
  • Must successfully complete a pre-employment offer background check and drug screening
  • Ability to safely operate company vehicles according to company policy. Must have valid driver's license, proof of auto liability insurance and acceptable motor vehicle driving record

Physical Requirements | Environmental Conditions
  • Lifting and Carrying: Able to lift, carry, push and/or pull objects and materials of moderately heavy weight (up to 60 pounds) and occasionally heavier weight (up to 100 pounds with assistance)
  • Mobility: Position may require intermittent to prolonged sitting, standing and/or walking for duration of shift, up to 13 hours
  • Repetitive Movements: This position may require performing repetitive movements and tasks throughout the shift, including repeated use of hands, arms or other body parts as part of typical job functions
  • Environmental Conditions: This position requires the ability to perform work tasks in varying weather conditions to include extreme cold and heat
  • Cognitive and Sensory Requirements: This position requires strong cognitive skills, including the ability to think critically, solve problems, process and retain information, have attention to detail and communicate effectively using approved communication methods.
  • Dexterity and skills to operate equipment such as telescoping and boom lifts
  • Able to work extended hours in dim light conditions
  • Ability to work on various surfaces, to include walking, kneeling, stooping, bending, crawling, bending, pulling, pushing, reaching, twisting, and moving about tight spaces
  • Have manual dexterity for operating various hand tools and power tools (i.e.: drills, impacts, wrenches, screwdrivers, etc.)
  • Able to work at heights up to and excess of 60ft
  • Able to endure approved exposure levels to various chemicals found in cleaning solvents, adhesives, paints, lubricants, atmospheric effects solutions, etc
