Job description

The Laborer / Lumper supports the Shipping and Receiving Department by loading and unloading trucks, handling freight, verifying shipments, and maintaining a clean, safe, and organized work environment. This position is essential for ensuring that incoming and outgoing materials are processed efficiently, accurately, and safely.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Loading & Unloading: Safely load and unload trucks, containers, and trailers by hand or using pallet jacks, forklifts, or other warehouse equipment.
  • Product Handling: Sort, stack, palletize, and shrink-wrap products as required.
  • Inspection: Check products for damage, quantity, and accuracy against shipping documents or purchase orders.
  • Documentation: Assist with recording shipment details, such as counts, weights, and condition of goods.
  • Inventory Support: Help organize and maintain warehouse inventory and storage areas.
  • Safety & Maintenance: Follow all safety rules and company policies; keep work areas clean and free of hazards.
  • Teamwork: Work collaboratively with shipping and receiving staff, drivers, and management to meet daily operational goals.
  • Other Duties: Perform other warehouse or general labor tasks as assigned by supervisors.

Qualifications:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Experience: Previous warehouse, general labor, or shipping/receiving experience preferred but not required.
  • Skills:
    • Ability to lift 50+ lbs repeatedly.
    • Basic math and reading comprehension skills.
    • Strong attention to detail and reliability.
