As a vital member of our Hawaii and Northwest team, you'll work with and lead multidisciplinary project teams and partner with clients to deliver planning, design, and construction services across a diverse portfolio of roadways and transit projects from roadway modernization and complete streets and multimodal mobility improvements. You'll work on and guide projects from concept through close‐out, balancing scope, schedule, budget, quality, and risk, while building strong relationships with agencies, stakeholders, and teaming partners.

In addition to project delivery, this role may also support a client-facing project management support assignment, helping teams strengthen project management practices through coaching, training, and practical tools that improve consistency from planning through close-out.

Here's what you'll need

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (or related)
  • Hawaii Professional Engineer (P.E.) (or ability to obtain within 6 months)
  • 15+ years of relevant civil/transportation engineering experience, including 10+ years of project management leading projects.
  • Demonstrated experience working on successful projects for statewide and county transportation agencies across Hawaii.
  • Client‐facing leadership, serving as the point of contact, facilitating design/production meetings; and supports proposal development.
  • Working knowledge of applicable state design standards and federal guidance and funding/program requirements, including FHWA, FTA, and FRA.
  • Strong networks and relationships in the Hawaii transportation market, including existing and potential clients and teaming partners.

Ideally, You Also Have:

  • Demonstrated ability to train, mentor, and enable others - building PM capability through coaching, templates, and repeatable practices across multidisciplinary teams and/or client organizations.
  • Experience delivering transit and/or rail projects and coordinating interfaces across highway, bridge, transit, and rail.
  • Technical understanding of highway/roadway design standards including horizontal and vertical geometrics, drainage, utilities, traffic signals, signing, lighting, ITS, erosion and sediment control practices, stormwater management, and specifications.
  • Experience coordinating staffing and workload, mentoring early- and mid-career engineers, and applying QA/QC practices for consistent, high-quality deliverables.
  • PMP, CCM, or DBIA (or willingness to obtain)
  • Strong proposal and technical writing skills.

The base salary range for this position is $144,600.00 to $250,000.00. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
