    As a Maintenance Mechanic, you will be responsible for repairing and maintaining all plant mechanical equipment; erection of steel buildings and structures; and perform fabrication welding (gas and electric.)

    Maintenance Mechanic Job Duties

  • Be able to read difficult blueprints detailing buildings and equipment.
  • Understand and be able to repair hydraulic systems.
  • Be able to complete work shop mathematics.
  • Be able to climb and work in high areas (manlift).
  • Know the operation of mechanical equipment throughout the plant.
  • Be able to tear down, repair, and reassemble complicated mechanical equipment.
  • Welds and fabricates as necessary to repair items using either oxyacetylene or electric arc welding.
  • Locates sources of trouble, makes the necessary repairs and get the equipment back into operation as quickly and efficiently as possible.
  • Knows and maintains spare parts inventories as necessary.
  • Be able to erect steel according to blueprints.
  • Operates mobile equipment and crane as necessary.
  • Must be able to enters work orders; adds time and other information in the Immpower program.
  • Must maintain necessary hand tools to perform work.
  • Provides training and instruction to the Apprentice(s) and to other wage jobs in their work area/department as instructed by supervision.
  • Must be able to understand and use the Company's CMMS system.
  • Must be able to keep work area clean and orderly. Must be able to know safety rules that apply to the safety of others and to personal safety. Performs other work as instructed by supervision. Reports malfunction of equipment to proper authority.
  • Must be able to follow all safety and job specific procedures.
  • Must be able to adhere, support, and strictly follow Company, quality, and environmental standards and directives while performing job duties for the protection of themselves and others

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Must have successfully completed an apprentice program in a maintenance craft classification. OR Must have successfully completed a trainee program in a maintenance craft classification with four (4) years of well-rounded maintenance mechanic experience. Experience must include at least one of the following: electro-hydraulic troubleshooting, machinery fault diagnostics, or pneumatics. OR Applicants who have not successfully completed a trainee program in a maintenance craft classification with four (4) years of well-rounded maintenance experience will be considered if they have two (2) or more years of well-rounded Maintenance Mechanic experience (i.e., mechanical troubleshooting and repairs, burning and welding, etc.) in a heavy industrial environment and are willing to sign an agreement to successfully complete a modified curriculum approved by the department head. OR Applicants who have successfully completed a trainee or certification program with no experience will be considered if they are willing to sign an agreement to successfully complete a modified curriculum approved by the department head.
  2. Must be physically able to perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations.
  3. Must be able to read and interpret complex specifications for projects, such as hydraulic schematics and technical drawings.
  4. Must be able to assess equipment problems and needed repairs.
  5. Must be able to read and write legibly. Must exhibit the ability to communicate in a courteous, polite, and effective manner, both verbally and in written format.
  6. Must meet the physical requirements for safe operation of mobile equipment as administered by the Company.
  7. Due to the hazardous nature of the job environment (mobile equipment, overhead cranes, etc.), an acceptable level of vision and hearing is required in order to identify and respond to visual and audible warnings in a safe manner.
  8. Must be able to climb and work from high places.
  9. Must exhibit a valid state issued driver's license.
  10. Must exhibit a tolerance for stress, the ability to manage multiple tasks, work independently, and meet deadlines under a dynamic work schedule. The nature of this job requires performing job duties with numerous interruptions.
  11. Must be able to rotate shifts and work extra hours on weekdays, weekends, or holidays as required to fulfill job duties.
  12. Must exhibit good attention to detail and good organizational skills.
  13. Must exhibit the ability to learn.
  14. Must exhibit good interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with persons of different socio-economic, cultural, and educational backgrounds. Must exhibit the ability to cooperate well with other individuals and establish and maintain effective working relationships.
