Martin Concrete Construction is seeking a Safety Operations Manager to join our team. This position is ideal for a proactive leader who thrives in a fast-paced construction environment, enjoys developing others, and is committed to maintaining the highest standards of safety and compliance.


About the Role

As a Safety Operations Manager, you will serve as a key leader within the Safety Department, overseeing safety operations for assigned projects while ensuring compliance with OSHA regulations and Martin Concrete Construction's safety policies. You will work closely with superintendents, project teams, Onsite Safety Coordinators, and company leadership to promote a strong safety culture through training, inspections, coaching, documentation, and continuous improvement initiatives.


This role requires a highly organized professional with exceptional communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills who can effectively balance field operations with administrative responsibilities.


Key Responsibilities

Safety Leadership & Compliance

  • Promote and maintain a culture of safety across all assigned Martin Concrete Construction projects.
  • Ensure assigned projects have qualified and trained Onsite Safety Coordinators.
  • Monitor compliance with OSHA regulations, company safety policies, PPE requirements, and corporate safety standards.
  • Coach and support superintendents, foremen, and field personnel in maintaining safe work practices.
  • Develop and implement initiatives that strengthen the company's overall safety culture.

Jobsite Inspections & Audits

  • Conduct monthly documented safety inspections for assigned projects.
  • Perform routine field safety observations and compliance checks.
  • Submit inspection reports within 24 hours and immediately communicate serious safety concerns.
  • Review project safety documentation to ensure records remain accurate, complete, and compliant.
  • Ensure project safety boxes remain properly stocked with required forms and materials.

Training & Employee Development

  • Train, mentor, and develop assigned Onsite Safety Coordinators.
  • Schedule and conduct required OSHA and company safety training.
  • Provide regular training updates to superintendents and project teams.
  • Assist field personnel in developing engaging Toolbox Talks and Job Safety Analysis meetings that encourage employee participation.

Incident Management

  • Manage employee injuries, vehicle accidents, and equipment damage incidents.
  • Collect and submit required documentation while coordinating with insurance providers.
  • Assist in resolving employee safety concerns promptly and professionally.

Administrative & Project Support

  • Maintain employee safety records, training documentation, and departmental files.
  • Prepare reports, correspondence, presentations, and training materials.
  • Answer internal and external safety-related inquiries.
  • Coordinate departmental meetings, travel arrangements, and administrative activities.
  • Maintain safety supply inventory and coordinate ordering of PPE and safety materials.
  • Develop and continuously improve project-specific safety documentation.

Team Collaboration

  • Represent the Safety Department during Project Kick-Off Meetings, Operations Meetings, Post-Job Wrap-Up Meetings, and other assigned meetings.
  • Collaborate with the Safety Management Team to improve processes and promote continuous safety improvement.
  • Assist with planning company safety meetings, leadership events, and employee training initiatives.
  • Foster positive working relationships with employees, customers, subcontractors, vendors, and company leadership.
