We shape strategy and decisions, challenge activities to ensure they meet our standards, and perform independent tests of our security and technology risk.

Role Description

TDRM is seeking a Manager-level associate with a data management, risk, and process management background. The individual will partner with innovative and passionate stakeholders across TDRM, to enhance risk governance, controls, processes, and assurance practices, while implementing strategic, automated, and transformative change.

This opportunity provides for significant professional growth and exposure to senior management. The ideal candidate must be able to effectively communicate and influence partners across multiple functional areas and levels of the organization. Strong risk management, data management, process engineering, attention to detail, and the ability to adapt in a dynamic customer focused environment are essential to succeeding in this role.

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Providing partners guidance on TDRM Governance requirements and practices, specifically as it relates to computations, automations, and business developed code

  • Managing process improvement initiatives and projects to completion

  • Crafting materials and effectively communicating change across the organization

  • Designing and implementing solutions, leveraging technology to enhance processes

  • Mining risk data to design internal dashboards and automated processes and reporting

Desired Skills:

  • Self-starter with a background in risk management, data management, or process engineering

  • Willing to learn, adapts easily to change, and confident with diverse thinking

  • Understanding of COF risk frameworks, activities, and the three lines of defense

  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple projects and deliverables

  • Strong judgement, curiosity, and proactive problem solving skills

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent certification

  • At least 4 years of experience in risk management, compliance, or process management

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or military experience

  • 5+ years of experience in a second-line or oversight role at a financial institution or regulatory agency, to include the development and oversight of risk management frameworks and processes

  • Ability to manage multiple projects while maintaining superior results

  • Independent, execution oriented problem-solver with ability to navigate ambiguity

  • Ability to work cross-functionally, individually, or to lead work among a team

  • Knowledge and experience using SQL, Google Suite, Google App Script, and Google Gemini AI

  • Ability to design effective, efficient, repeatable, and compliant processes

  • Customer and results focused competencies

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills

  • Aptitude for synthesizing complex issues into a clear and concise summary

  • Keen attention to detail

  • Ability to establish credibility, trust, and support within all levels of the organization

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

Chicago, IL: $138,100 - $157,700 for Risk Manager


McLean, VA: $151,900 - $173,400 for Risk Manager


New York, NY: $165,700 - $189,200 for Risk Manager


Richmond, VA: $138,100 - $157,700 for Risk Manager








Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate's offer letter.

This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
