The Opportunity

We’re seeking a motivated Junior Project Analyst with experience in complex job costing, and operational accounting who is ready to grow their career. With a collaborative team, modern tools, and opportunities for professional development, you’ll play a key role in delivering reliable services that support our companies and the communities they serve across the province.

The Junior Project Analyst is a vital link between our Operations, Project Management, and Finance teams. As a key relationship builder, you’ll enable accurate project reporting and empower decision-makers through timely insights, clear communication, and responsive support across the project lifecycle. Success in this role requires a collaborative mindset, approachability, and strong analytical skills.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Operate in accordance to and uphold Emil Anderson Group (EAG) Core Values in all aspects of your work.  
  • Uphold an unwavering commitment to developing a zero-injury culture, and meeting the Paving the Way to Zero goals.  
  • Ensure project setups in the ERP system — including contracts, change orders, purchase orders, and subcontract compliance — are accurate and align with operational requirements.  
  • Review project costs, payroll hours and expense classifications ahead of billing cycles to assist operations with financial clarity.  
  • Prepare job cost adjustments and month-end accruals to ensure that costs are recognized accurately and in a timely manner.  
  • Coordinate monthly invoicing, progress claims, and holdback processing in accordance with contract terms and project schedules.  
  • Track and manage accounts receivable; conduct billing analysis to support cash flow and financial health across projects.  
  • Build strong working relationships with project teams, accounting, leadership, and external stakeholders (e.g., joint venture partners) to foster transparency and trust.  
  • Collaborate closely with internal departments (Operations, Accounting, Project Management) to ensure consistency in financial processes and help clarify financial information to non-financial stakeholders.  
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management. 


Your Qualifications & Skills

  • Minimum of 1-3 years’ experience in project accounting, job costing, cost control, or operational finance—preferably in construction, civil, or heavy industrial settings. 
  • Strong knowledge of contract requirements for billing, subcontract compliance, change orders, and holdbacks. 
  • Proficient in financial systems (experience with Vista Viewpoint is a strong asset); familiarity with ERP setups, reporting tools (e.g., Excel advanced features such as PivotTables, Lookups, etc.)  
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and data interpretation skills. Ability to identify variances, root causes, and to communicate findings clearly. 
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail. Able to manage and prioritize multiple competing tasks. 
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team; strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field; or equivalent industry experience.
