Job description

Senior Project Controller

WSP is currently initiating a search for Senior Project Controller for our Lakewood CO, Salt Lake City UT, or Phoenix AZ office. Be involved in projects with our Earth & Environment Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client's objectives and solves their challenges.

Job Overview: Monitor and control project progress and support the Project Manager in achieving the project's objectives throughout the project lifecycle. Use knowledge and experience to anticipate project requirements, take initiative in decision making and be able to pre-empt project issues while working independently from the Project Manager in relation to their assigned responsibilities. #GlobalMining

Your Impact

  • Integration
    • Setting up and coordinating the project according to the approach outlined by WSP.
    • Coordinating project closing through archiving of project documentation and coordination of lessons learned documentation, client feedback documentation, sub-consultant evaluations and project experience profiles.
    • Developing project execution plans, quality management plans, and risk management plans, for Project Manager review.
    • Coordinating the planning and the execution of the project and monitoring performance according to the project execution plan and the contract terms and conditions.
  • Scope And Schedule
    • Coordinating the development of the project scope statement and Work Breakdown Structure.
    • Producing and maintaining client communications related to change orders.
    • Developing and maintaining project schedule and tracking against the schedule baseline.
    • Developing and maintaining Earned Value Management progress.
  • Cost
    • Setting up and maintaining budgets and expenditures.
    • Conducting project forecasting related to cost control.
    • Interfacing with the accounting team to ensure compliance with client invoicing requirements, preparation of invoices and assisting with facilitation of timely payment.
    • Following-up and meeting with Client's accounting team to ensure a smooth AR cycle.
    • A strong focus on keeping a low Day Sales Outstanding (DSO) on each project
  • Project Documentation
    • Tracking requirements of the quality management processes or plans to ensure they are met.
    • Coordinating project team communications, written and verbal, and documenting client meetings, interactions and activities.
    • Producing regular progress reports for the client, the project team and other internal and external stakeholders.
    • Coordinating data management and information transfer, including setting up and maintaining filing systems, document logs and action item list.
    • Assisting with the identification of project risks and maintaining the project risk register.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

Who You Are Required Qualifications

  • College diploma or University degree in an Engineering or Science related field
  • Minimum of five years of experience in related project support in a multi-disciplinary environment
  • Experience creating and monitoring project plans, schedules and budgets for multi-disciplinary projects
  • Working knowledge of project management principles and PMl's Body of Knowledge
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook) and SharePoint
  • Experience working with Primavera P6 to produce detailed independent schedules and network diagrams
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
  • Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.
  • Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.

Compensation: Expected Salary (Colorado only): $86,100 - $128,500
