Job Summary:


Since 1981, Old Dominion Insulation (ODI) has partnered with general contractors, mechanical contractors, and building owners to provide mechanical insulation services across the United States. ODI serves a variety of market sectors and is committed to safety, quality, and building long-term relationships with our customers.


We are seeking a qualified Project Manager to oversee the planning, coordination, and execution of assigned projects from start through completion. This position may oversee multiple projects or business units simultaneously and is responsible for ensuring projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with company standards. The Project Manager monitors project financial performance, maintains strong client relationships, coordinates with field and internal teams, and identifies and addresses project risks. This role also provides leadership and mentorship to project team members, supporting their continued development and overall performance.

Major Duties and Responsibilities: 

The duties and responsibilities are intended to describe the general nature and scope of work being performed by this position. This is not a complete listing, and other duties will be assigned based on the position’s role within the business unit. 

  • Lead, plan, and coordinate all phases of assigned projects, ensuring milestones and budgets are met. 
  • Supervise and mentor Project Engineers and/or Assistant Project Managers, providing technical guidance and constructive feedback. 
  • Partner with the Safety Department to maintain a zero-incident workplace. 
  • Oversee project documentation, including project trackers, drawing logs, and turnover binders. 
  • Review and approve submittals prepared by project support staff, ensuring compliance with specifications. 
  • Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress, quality, and adherence to scope. 
  • Manage client communication, meetings, and expectations throughout the project lifecycle. 
  • Price, submit, and negotiate change orders, ensuring timely follow-up and log updates. 
  • Oversee project billing to ensure positive cash flow within 90 days of project start. 
  • Evaluate and mitigate project risks, escalating when necessary. 
  • Collaborate with Construction Managers and Superintendents to align labor needs and production goals. 
  • Negotiate with vendors and coordinate material procurement. 
  • Maintain communication with the Director of Project Management through regular progress reports. 
  • Promote teamwork and collaboration across the project management group. 
  • Support continuous improvement efforts and cross-business learning. 

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • High school diploma or GED required; advanced training preferred. 
  • Associates degree with 5+ years of progressively responsible experience in construction.   
  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Engineering, or another related field with 3+ years progressively responsible construction experience; or
     
  • Any similar combination of education and experience as listed above.  
  • 2+ work experience managing project budgets.  
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple projects at one time.  
  • Knowledge of construction technology, scheduling, equipment and methods.   
  • Proficient in reading blueprints and mechanical drawings.   
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective and professional relationships with customers, vendors, managers, and colleagues.   
  • Excellent interpersonal, and verbal and written communication skills.   
  • Ability to identify and meet customers’ expectations and requirements.  
  • Strong leadership, delegation, and negotiation skills.
     
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail with a focus on error prevention.  
  • Demonstrated ability to proactively identify and resolve complex issues.  
  • Exceptional time management skills.   
  • Ability to identify and meet customers’ expectations and requirements.  
  • Must be a proactive self-starter, problem solver, and effective team player.   
  • Excellent knowledge of rules and regulations as well as quality standards and human resources.   
  • Ability to understand and follow standard operating policies and procedures.  
  • Proficient using a computer and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.)  
  • Ability to use Bluebeam and/ or On-screen Takeoff.  
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks, changing priorities as necessary.
     
  • Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing requirements in a positive and constructive manner.  

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish). 
  • PMP or an equivalent certification.  

Physical Requirements include but are not limited to the following:  

  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods and work at a computer. 
  • Capable of walking, kneeling, bending, climbing, and working on active construction sites. 
  • Able to lift and carry up to 15 lbs. 
  • Ability to travel to job sites and meetings as required. 
  • Must be able to wear appropriate PPE and work around construction tools and equipment.
