Position Summary:
Join the forefront of innovation at the University of Dayton Research Institute (UDRI), where cutting-edge research meets real-world impact. Our Sustainment Readiness Support division seeks a talented Project Manager to join our growing team
This is a full-time position at the UDRI campus in Dayton, OH. The position is for a Project Manager (PM) supporting sustainment programs and projects which include advanced manufacturing technologies such as cold spray repair, additive manufacturing engineering, material characterization and non-destructive evaluation. The Project Manager also supports quality, cybersecurity, digital enabling, facility and operations programs. The work will primarily support the Department of War (DoW) and will interact with internal and external stakeholders; some industrial business may also be supported. Specific work tasks include managing multiple highly technical projects through the application of knowledge, skills, tools, and techniques to meet the requirements for each project. Project Manager activities require that each project is managed through all phases: Initiation, Definition and Planning, Execution, Monitoring & Control, and Closure. The Project Manager will ensure that each project assigned is managed to meet requirements for cost, schedule, performance, risk, change, scope and quality. This position will also support financial objectives by assisting with forecasting requirements, preparing an annual budget, scheduling expenditures, analyzing variances, and initiating corrective actions. The Project Manager must obtain operational objectives by contributing information and recommendations to strategic plans and reviews, resolving problems, identifying trends, determining improvements and managing change. The Project Manager facilitates administrative and technical support for Program Management Reviews (PMRs), workshops, technical interface sessions, and client meetings. It is crucial this candidate have high energy, a positive can-do attitude, be pro-active and be a self-starter with minimal guidance or oversight. They must excel at networking and keeping all technical teams in sync. The Project Manager (P3) also supports training of Project Managers and Assistants supporting the sustainment projects by practicing servant leadership.
The Mid-Level (P2) role focuses on growing responsibility and execution excellence, while the Senior-Level (P3) position emphasizes leadership, financial oversight, and management of multiple and/or larger, more complex initiatives.
Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum qualifications for P2 classification:
1. Bachelor's Degree in business, technical or related field.
2. 3 years' experience in project management.
3. Experience in planning, organizing, and executing technical projects.
4. Experience managing project cost, schedule, performance, scope, risk, change and quality.
5. Effective frequent communication is required internally and with the customer to progress projects being managed.
6. Successful collaboration within a multi-disciplinary team.
7. Familiar with compliant rules for ITAR, CUI, security classification and DoW files management.
8. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Project).
9. Formal education in or related to project management.
10. Due to requirements of our research contracts with the U.S. federal government, candidates for this position must be a U.S. Citizen.
P3 classification must meet these additional minimum qualifications:
1. 6 years' experience in project management.
2. Experience with representing the organization as a prime contact on projects.
3. Strong and in-depth knowledge of project / program management processes, concepts and techniques.
4. Experience training project managers and assistants by practicing servant leadership.
Preferred Qualifications:
While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:
1. Project Management Professional certification (PMP).
2. Advanced Degree in business management or related field.
3. Experience with UDRI policies and procedures.
4. Experience managing DoW or Air Force technical projects.
5. Working knowledge of US Air Force policies and procedures.
6. Self-starter with excellent writing and briefing skills.
7. Experience with creating Integrated Master Plans and Integrated Master Schedules.
8. Experience managing government contracts, subcontracts, CDRLs, deliverables and execution.
9. Familiarity with advanced manufacturing technologies or cybersecurity.
