Job description

Project Manager - Laser

Location: Pittsburgh; PA (1st Pref.) or Boston; MA

Duration: long-term - 12 months +

Skills & Description:

Project Manager with Laser engraving expertise in Manufacturing environment.

The Project Manager will be stationed in the United States (Boston or Pittsburgh). All development and project-management effort is performed in the U.S.; the resulting products are sold into the European Union. The Project Manager will coordinate with product management, engineering, product compliance, sourcing, and the business unit. The two programs in scope are described in Sections 2.A and 2.B.

2.  Scope of Services

The Project Manager shall provide end-to-end project management for the two programs below, including planning, scheduling, cross-functional coordination, risk and action tracking, gate-review documentation, and status reporting. Gate references are to internal NPD gate process (Gate 2 – business case; Gate 3 – development commitment; Gate 6/7 – launch/release).

2.A  Program A —Galvo Laser Quick Wins (UV + 200W MOPA)

Objective: Enable the sale of the OEM 5W UV and 200W VP MOPA fiber galvo lasers into the sales network (EMEA primary, with potential extension to APAC), filling an identified gap in the galvo portfolio. The program passed Gate 2 on July 8, 2026.

Project Manager responsibilities – Program A:

•    Own and maintain the integrated project schedule from Phase 3 through Gate 3 and Gate 6/7, and manage the program to gate deliverables.

•    Coordinate the CE-marking / product-compliance workstream with product compliance team and confirm compliance feasibility and effort/timeline for each model.

•    Coordinate the technical gap analysis and any required changes with the assigned engineering lead and Product Manager.

•    Coordinate labeling/branding, WinLase 7 control, and go-to-market readiness with product management and the business unit.

•    Track and drive open commercial items (e.g., transfer pricing, tariff treatment, EMEA vs. APAC scope) to closure with the appropriate owners.

•    Maintain a risk, issue, and action log; escalate schedule or scope risks to the SOW Manager. The program is targeted as a short-cycle effort; the Project Manager shall flag immediately if the critical path indicates a duration materially beyond three (3) months.

2.B  Program B — Battery-Powered (Portable) Dot Peen White Label

Objective: Bring a battery-powered portable Dot Peen marking product to market on a white-label basis. Internal program leadership sits with product management. The FY27 hardware roadmap carries a Gate 7 target of December 2026. The program must pass through the internal gate-review process (Gate 2/3, then Gate 6/7) for company transparency.

Project Manager responsibilities – Program B:

•    Own and maintain the integrated project schedule and drive the program through Gate 2/3 and Gate 6/7.

•    Coordinate collection of program profitability inputs from the regional sales organizations, working with the internal program lead.

•    Coordinate the engineering test plan and prototype/pilot build activity with the assigned engineering resources.

•    Coordinate white-label branding, supplier interface, and launch readiness.

•    Maintain a risk, issue, and action log; escalate schedule, scope, or cost risks to the SOW Manager.

Deliverables

The Project Manager shall produce and maintain, for each program, the following Deliverables. Integrated project schedule (baselined and maintained), per program.

1.  Completed gate-review documentation for the applicable gates (Gate 2/3 and Gate 6/7).

2.  Risk, issue, action, and decision logs, maintained current.

3.  Regular written status reports at a cadence set with the Project Manager .

4.  Program-specific coordination artifacts: for Program A, compliance/CE-marking tracking and open-commercial-item log; for Program B, profitability-input tracking and engineering test-plan coordination record.
