Business Functional Specialist I for Procurement in  GAC Savannah

Translates procurement business requirements clearly between Procurement and BT team.

Understands end-to-end procurement processes including sourcing, purchasing, supplier collaboration, and how these impact supply continuity and financial outcomes.

Supports and enhances procurement tools such as SAP Ariba and SAP PP/DS integrations, ensuring solutions meet business needs and align with leadership goals.

Leads and supports EDI setup and integration with suppliers, ensuring accurate, timely exchange of procurement transactions (POs, ASNs, invoices).

Identifies gaps and inefficiencies in procurement processes (supplier onboarding, PO lifecycle, contract compliance, and data accuracy) and recommends practical, scalable improvements.

Acts as a liaison between procurement users and BT to ensure system enhancements are clearly defined, tested, and successfully deployed.

Influences cross-functional stakeholders and suppliers (without direct authority) to drive compliance to procurement processes, data standards, and system usage.

Anticipates change impacts to buyers, sourcing managers, and suppliers, and supports smooth adoption of new tools, processes, and integrations.

Communicates proactively with stakeholders across strategic sourcing, operational procurement, and supplier management functions.

Ensures alignment of procurement processes and system capabilities with the global SAP template and Ariba roadmap.

Use procurement KPIs and data to drive continuous improvement and measure outcomes.

Understands procurement team and supplier pain points to improve usability, adoption, and overall efficiency.

Drives standardization of procurement data, supplier master data, and transaction integrity across systems.

Remains adaptable and continuously learns as procurement technologies, supplier integration methods (EDI, APIs), and business requirements evolve.


 

Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Information Systems, Computer Science required or equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. 8 years experience supporting or acting as a SME for BT applications, including in depth transactional and cross functional process knowledge preferred.. . Position Purpose: Responsible for supporting Customer Support software solutions enhancements and sustaining activities. A large focus will be supporting new software initiatives while ensuring the integrity of the global template, as well as identifying, scoping and delivering on continuous improvement opportunities. Requires extensive knowledge of lean and project management techniques. Identifies where process improvements can be made, identifies software applicable solutions, creates the business case and works with the business and development team to develop the functional specification.
Job Description
Principle Duties and Responsibilities: Essential Functions:
  1. Ensures that supported applications-delivered business process provides the appropriate functionality to run the business by leveraging detailed business knowledge.
  2. Leads small scale projects independently. Assists with project management of large scope technical initiatives.
  3. Identifies where process improvements can be made and works with BT/ERP and business SMEs to create the business case for each initiative. Responsible for recommending improvements with supported application functionality.
  4. Takes complex business requirements and models them within supported applications. Act as expert on all details regarding critical business processes and associated requirements.
  5. Understands / evaluates the impact of new processes and how to prepare the business for change.
  6. Using process mapping, lean six sigma and continuous improvement methods, applies these principles to functional business areas.
  7. Has a strong understanding of the reporting tools available and how to apply them (Crystal Reports / Cognos / Power BI etc.) .
Additional Functions:
  1. Leads and assist with the resolution of complex process-related break fix / production issues. .
  2. Conducts training and prepares training programs and materials as needed. .
  3. Performs all other duties as assigned. .
Perform other duties as assigned. Other Requirements:
  1. Completion of appropriate training in a Lean manufacturing and project management best practices desired.
  2. Experience creating business case packages and leading their presentation.
  3. Experience with effectively communicating to senior management.
  4. Software application configuration / authorization management knowledge and experience desired.
