Job description

Job Title: Project Manager

Duration: Fulltime Permanent

Location: Atlanta, GA 30339 (On-site)

Company Overview:

Client is seeking Project Managers to join its Special Projects team, supporting strategic, cross-functional initiatives across the organization. This team partners with virtually every department and provides broad visibility into the business, working directly with executive leadership to drive high-impact initiatives.

This is a demanding, fast-paced environment with significant exposure to senior leaders, making it an excellent opportunity for someone who genuinely enjoys project management and wants to build a long-term career in project delivery.

Position Summary:

The Project Manager is responsible for leading multiple moderately complex projects from initiation through completion while ensuring alignment with business objectives. This individual will own project planning, scheduling, stakeholder communication, budgeting, documentation, risk management, and project execution.

The ideal candidate has strong project management fundamentals, thrives in a fast-moving environment, and enjoys owning project execution rather than serving solely as a strategic advisor.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the full project lifecycle from project initiation through implementation and closeout.
  • Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, timelines, milestones, and deliverables.
  • Coordinate multiple cross-functional workstreams across numerous business units.
  • Build and maintain project documentation including project plans, RACI/RASCI matrices, RAID logs, status reports, meeting notes, and action items.
  • Manage project budgets and ensure projects remain within financial expectations.
  • Present project updates, research, and recommendations to executive sponsors and leadership.
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders across all levels of the organization.
  • Manage stakeholder expectations while ensuring alignment across departments.
  • Identify project risks, issues, dependencies, and conflicts, driving timely resolution.
  • Facilitate project meetings, conference calls, and follow-up activities.
  • Define project success metrics and monitor project performance throughout execution.
  • Mentor Associate Project Managers as needed.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred (Business, Engineering, Finance, Information Systems, or related field).
  • 2โ€“5+ years of project management, consulting, business operations, or similar experience.
  • Demonstrated experience managing multiple concurrent projects.
  • Strong understanding of project management fundamentals and methodologies.
  • Experience creating:
  • Project schedules
  • RACI/RASCI matrices
  • RAID logs
  • Standard PM documentation and project artifacts
  • Experience working across multiple business units and cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel.
  • Experience with project management tools such as Smartsheet, Microsoft Project, Jira, or similar.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PMP certification or formal project management training.
  • Experience presenting to executive leadership.
  • Experience managing budgets and project financials.
  • Experience mentoring junior Project Managers.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • Enjoys project management as a long-term career rather than viewing it as a stepping stone.
  • Thrives in a fast-paced, high-pressure, and sometimes chaotic environment.
  • Comfortable working directly with VPs, Chiefs, and executive leadership.
  • Strong relationship builder who can navigate organizational politics effectively.
  • Naturally proactive and takes ownership beyond assigned responsibilities.
  • Balances strong project execution with strategic thinking but understands that PM fundamentals come first.
