Job description

EHS Manager
Tarkett is seeking a hands-on EHS Manager to develop, establish, and maintain an environmental health and safety program that strives to meet or exceed all regulatory requirements, and provides for a safe work environment that is free of hazards in pursuit of zero work-related injuries / illnesses, using a behavioral-based approach. The position will manage EHS for the Florence, AL Campus.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Lead and manage all aspects of the Environmental Health and Safety program within the plants
  • Assist in ensuring compliance to all Safe Work Practices (SWP), regulatory standards (EPA, DEP, OSHA, NFPA, etc.) and plant policies and procedures.
  • Lead both the Safety and Environmental World Class Manufacturing (WCM) Pillars
  • Lead the ISO 14001 / 18001 EHS requirements and audit process for continued certification
  • Work with outside Environmental firms to ensure environmental compliance
  • Formulate and deliver safety training presentations and training for both small and large audiences, hourly and salaried.
  • Deliver EHS orientation to new and temporary associates.
  • Assist in ensuring proper training and compliance to plant EHS policies and procedures involving contractor/vendor personnel.
  • Conduct proactive safety surveys and inspections in order to identify potential risks.
  • Perform, document, and trend behavioral-safety observations.
  • Analyze data and perform trending analysis in order to identify and implement corrective actions as well as develop strategic risk mitigation strategies.
  • Provide technical assistance to associates in evaluating new / altered production equipment for potential hazards.
  • Maintain assorted databases and software programs in support of the EHS Department and Plant EHS initiatives.
  • Aid in the completion of the Plant's annual reports
  • Assist in providing oversight to Plant's hazardous and non-hazardous waste storage, handling and transport program.
  • Conduct ergonomic assessments of equipment, workstations, etc. as needed.
  • Research safety equipment for its application and purchase.
  • Assist in personal protective equipment (PPE) selection and trials as well as to ensure its proper use, maintenance and storage.
  • Assist in workers compensation claim management and return to work programs.
  • Serve as an EHS Champion in furthering "Safety First" culture.
  • To be engaged with shop floor supervisors and employees through time on the floor; expected to be at least 50% of time.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • 5+ years of experience in Safety and Industrial Hygiene in a manufacturing environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in Safety, Industrial Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene or related discipline, OR additional relevant EHS experience, required.
  • Strong working knowledge of all OSHA and EPA regulations as well as experience managing OSHA visits and audits.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Supervisory/leadership experience preferred but not required.
  • Project Management experience preferred.
