Job description

Fayetteville Contractors, Inc. is recruiting for a Heavy Civil Estimator/Project Manager to join our team. This position is designed for an experienced construction professional with knowledge of excavation who is seeking a long-term opportunity to manage projects from estimating through completion. Working alongside our experienced Project Managers and Estimators, this position will champion estimating, bidding, project management, scheduling, and project coordination for public and private construction projects from pre-bid through project closeout.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify and pursue excavation projects within the Company's core markets.
  • Analyzing and interpreting contract documents, engineering plans, specifications, geotechnical reports, and bid requirements.
  • Prepare quantity takeoffs with detailed cost estimates using HCSS, Bluebeam, Agtek, and other estimating software.
  • Solicit and evaluate supplier, subcontractor, trucking, and material quotations.
  • Prepare competitive bid proposals for municipal, PennDOT, commercial, industrial, and private projects.
  • Develop project schedules and construction sequencing.
  • Support Project Managers with project startup, planning, coordination, and project execution.
  • Monitor project costs, production, change orders, subcontractor performance, and project profitability.
  • Coordinate with field personnel, foremen, dispatch, shop personnel, subcontractors, suppliers, and customers throughout each project.
  • Visit job sites regularly for project management, field coordination, progress tracking, and problem solving.
  • Manage project documentation, contract administration, billing support, and project closeout.
  • Work in a team environment, collaborating closely with Project Managers, Estimators, Operations, and Accounting.
  • Build and maintain positive working relationships with clients, engineers, municipalities, subcontractors, suppliers, and fellow team members.

Qualifications:

  • Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Construction Engineering, Building Construction, or equivalent construction experience preferred.
  • 2-5 years of estimating, project management, project engineering, field supervision, or heavy civil construction experience required.
  • Knowledge of HCSS (HeavyBid/HeavyJob), Bluebeam, Agtek, AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, or similar construction software preferred.
  • Experience with municipal, PennDOT, commercial, industrial, or private construction projects.
  • Strong mathematical, analytical, organizational, and computer skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and contract documents.
  • Highly motivated, detail-oriented, and organized with the ability to recognize discrepancies and solve problems proactively.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Valid driver's license with the ability to travel to project sites throughout our service area as needed.
