Role Overview: Field Engineer

As a Field Engineer at United Infrastructure Group (UIG), you will be responsible for overseeing routine on-site project administration, scheduling, and engineering functions. This role requires you to plan, coordinate, and manage construction engineering activities while maintaining schedules and ensuring effective communication with subcontractors. You will also prepare monthly pay estimates, update the project CPM (Critical Path Method) schedule, and handle job budgets, change orders, and cost reports for review by project managers. Your expertise in heavy/highway projects will be critical in managing project progress and ensuring smooth operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Project Administration:

    • Handle all on-site project administration, including managing the project document control system.
    • Prepare monthly pay estimates and review owner and subcontractor pay estimates prior to management's approval.
  • Scheduling and Coordination:

    • Plan, coordinate, and manage construction engineering activities and schedules, working closely with subcontractors.
    • Update and maintain the project CPM schedule and lead regular review meetings.
  • Cost Management:

    • Prepare and coordinate job budgets, change orders, and cost reports for review and approval by management.
    • Supervise cost report management, leading regular review meetings to ensure budget alignment.
  • Problem Identification and Solutions:

    • Identify issues early and work proactively to develop solutions, minimizing disruptions to project progress.
  • Project Reviews and Reporting:

    • Prepare all required information for presentations at project reviews, ensuring accurate and up-to-date reporting for management.
Qualifications:
  • Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of engineering experience in heavy/highway construction, particularly on projects over $20 million.
  • Highway Construction Expertise: Familiarity with grading, drainage, paving (asphalt and concrete), bridge construction, retaining walls, and all other highway construction scopes.
  • Technical Skills: Experience with JDEdwards is preferred, along with strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to ensure clear and effective communication with all project stakeholders.
  • Organizational Skills: Strong prioritization, organizational abilities, and attention to detail.
  • Legal Requirements: Able to pass a Drug Test and legally eligible to work in the US.
Physical Requirements:
  • Office Work: Periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer are required.
  • Field Work: Occasional travel to job sites may be required to support project operations and reviews.
