Job description

The Facility and EHS Manager is responsible for ensuring that the facility is maintained and able to pass audits required in pet food facilities. EHS programs and practices are compliant with all applicable regulations and PETIQ requirements.
Essential Functions and Job Duties:
  • The Facility and EHS Manager will oversee the company's facilities, maintaining and repairing mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, fire systems, security, grounds, and forklifts to ensure a safe and functional workspace.
  • Schedules work and set priorities according to company needs.
  • Manage internal employees and contractors and outside vendors.
  • Contracts out landscape maintenance.
  • Overseas and supervises teams for facility maintenance and EHS.
  • Maintain and repairs building to meet internal, landlord, SQF and other regulatory standards.
  • Help to manage capital projects which may include managing contractors working on the facility.
  • Create and maintain budgeting for facility's needs, including annual budget and monthly budget reviews. This may include capital projects.
  • Performs related duties as assigned by the General Manager.
  • Acts as the primary lead for emergency planning, including weather and manmade emergencies.
  • Ensure internal controls are adequately designed and operating effectively to ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements including the retention of any necessary documentation.
  • Responsible for facilities inspections and reports.
  • Maintains compliance with all company policies and procedures.
  • Develop, implement and oversee policies and programs to maintain a safe and healthy workplace environment.
  • Identify hazards, conduct safety audits, and recommend improvements.
  • Educate employees on safety protocols, emergency procedures, and environmental practices.
  • Prepare for and manage workplace emergencies.
    • The facility is 24/7 and workplace emergencies can occur at any time. The Facilities / EHS manager is required to come in when there is an emergency or training that requires management.
    • Workplace emergencies include, but are not limited to, fires, hazardous material spills, medical incidents, severe weather, or equipment failures.
  • Promote ongoing enhancements in safety practices.
  • Maintains compliance with all relevant OSHA/UOSH standards, by creating OSHA/UOSH compliant procedures and policies.
  • Must be familiar with OSHA/UOSH standards that apply to the company.
  • Reviews updates of OSHA/UOSH standards, new standards and OSHA/UOSH enforcement priorities.
  • Acts as first line representative during OSHA/UOSH inspections.
  • Prepares training for OSHA/UOSH compliant procedures and policies.
  • Maintains OSHA/UOSH required records.
  • Leads the Safety Compliance Committee
  • Additional duties may be assigned and/or required

Personal Qualifications:
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers.
  • Working knowledge of electrical, mechanical and HVAC systems. •
  • Understanding of OSHA regulations.
  • Familiar with local building codes.
  • Demonstrated Leadership skills.
  • Excellent project management skills.
  • Must be a self-motivated person who can work with minimum supervision.
  • Maintain excellent communication and relationships with other departments to foster real team effort within the company.
  • Must be well organized, able to work with deadlines while under pressure, and maintain a cheerful disposition
  • Ability to work as part of a team and maintain a positive attitude
  • Ability to adhere to schedule work hours
  • Maintain proper hygiene
  • Must be able to understand and follow verbal and written directions in English

Education Requirements:
  • Associate degree preferred
  • High School Graduate or GED Equivalent

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to physically stand, bend, squat, and lift up to 55 pounds regularly
  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards
