A Project Manager at a venture-backed startup is responsible for planning, executing, and overseeing projects that align with the company's rapid growth objectives. They coordinate between teams, manage timelines, allocate resources, and ensure that deliverables meet quality standards and stakeholder expectations. Given the fast-paced and dynamic nature of startups, they often need to adapt quickly, handle multiple projects simultaneously, and communicate effectively with both internal teams and external investors. This dynamic setting also offers significant opportunities for growth and leadership as the company scales.

Job description

About the Company

Our client is a venture-backed startup building the next generation of revenue infrastructure for B2B AI companies, starting with intelligent deal pricing and quoting. They are replacing legacy tooling in a category that is being disrupted this year, and they already count fast-growing enterprises and AI companies among their customers. The team is small, well-backed by top-tier investors, and moving quickly toward its next stage of growth.

Founded 2024 · ~12 people · Industry: B2B SaaS, AI, Fintech

The Role

As a Founding Engineer, you would join a small, product-minded engineering team and own core features end-to-end for a fast-growing pricing and quoting platform. This is a backend-leaning full-stack role with real scope: you would ship the product that customers run their revenue on and help shape early product decisions.

What you'll be doing

  • Building and shipping core backend features for the pricing and quoting platform
  • Developing AI-powered agents launching in the near term
  • Owning product features end-to-end, from design through implementation
  • Contributing to product decisions and understanding the reasoning behind what you build
  • Working cross-functionally in a small company, including occasional support of customer onboarding

Tech stack: TypeScript, Python, React, SQL, PostgreSQL, Express, Tailwind, LLMs, AI Agents

Requirements
  • Roughly 4 to 8 years of full-stack software engineering experience
  • A track record of owning features end-to-end within a small engineering team
  • Strong backend engineering skills in TypeScript or Python
  • Solid experience with SQL, ideally PostgreSQL or similar
  • Experience building products at a venture-backed startup
  • A strong ownership mentality, comfortable driving projects without waiting for direction
Nice to Haves
  • Experience at a CPQ, pricing, or revenue infrastructure company
  • Hands-on experience shipping AI/ML products, LLMs, or agents in production
  • Full-stack range with React or a similar frontend framework
Why Join
  • Founding-level scope and ownership on a product customers depend on
  • Strong investor backing and early traction with well-known customers
  • A category at an inflection point, with room to shape the product early
  • Competitive base plus generous early-stage equity, and a full benefits package
Details
  • Location: San Francisco, CA
  • Work policy: On-site, 5 days a week (near Montgomery Station)
  • Compensation: $160K-$200K + equity
  • Visa sponsorship: Transfers only (OPT, H1B transfers)
  • Employment type: Full-time
