JOB SUMMARY: The Operations & Merchandise Coordinator will support the execution of gameday operations and back-of-house merchandise logistics for New Mexico Pro Hockey, an expansion team in the ECHL. This individual will oversee on-ice intermission activities and manage the Ice Crew and Street Team. Additionally, the role will work closely with the Director of Operations to ensure efficient fulfillment, organization, and inventory of team merchandise both on-site and online.
This position will also assist the Marketing and Operations departments with implementing sponsor fulfillment, ensuring contractual sponsorship elements are executed accurately on game days, at community events and throughout the season.
This role is ideal for someone with strong logistical skills, leadership ability, and a hands-on approach to event operations. The Operations & Merchandise Coordinator will play a key role in enhancing the fan experience and supporting the club's retail success across all platforms.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF POSITION INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:
  • Oversee all on-ice promotions and intermission activities on gamedays, including supervising Ice Crew and Street Team members.
  • Assist with setup and breakdown of gameday operations including on-ice props, signage, concourse activations, and promotional elements.
  • Coordinate merchandise fulfillment, restocking, and inventory management across all retail channels, including the team store, online orders, and pop-up stands locations.
  • Ensure merchandise areas, both front-of-house and back-of-house, remain organized, clean, and operating efficiently.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Operations on ordering, tracking, and receiving, and organizing merchandise shipments.
  • Train and supervise part-time retail and game day staff to ensure excellent customer service and operational consistency.
  • Assist the Marketing and Operations departments with the setup, execution, and fulfillment of sponsor activations, promotions, and contractual assets.
  • Support special events, community appearances, grassroots initiatives, and promotional events as needed.
  • Assist the Director of Operations and General Manager with team travel, accommodations, and other operational projects.
  • Other duties as assigned.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in Sports Management, Business, Marketing, or a related field preferred.
  • At least one (1) year of experience in hockey, game operations, retail/merchandise, live events, or a similar sports environment.
  • Comfortable managing people and tasks in a high-energy environment.
  • Ability to lift 30+ lbs and work on your feet for extended periods.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and time-management skills.
  • Proficiency in Shopify is preferred.
  • Familiar with the Microsoft 365 platform.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • This position is not limited to traditional 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. business hours. The role requires availability for home games, community appearances, sponsor events, and other team-related activities throughout the season.
  • Ability to work in extreme temperatures.
