Project Manager Representative information

What is a project manager representative?

A Project Manager Representative (PMR) acts as the liaison between project stakeholders and the project management team. Their primary role is to ensure that the project's objectives, timelines, and budgets are clearly communicated and met according to client or organizational requirements. PMRs are responsible for monitoring progress, coordinating resources, and addressing any issues that arise during the project lifecycle. They often serve as the main point of contact for clients, contractors, and team members to ensure smooth communication and successful project delivery.

How does a project manager representative typically collaborate with stakeholders throughout a project's lifecycle?

A Project Manager Representative works closely with stakeholders by acting as a liaison between clients, project teams, and external partners. They facilitate regular meetings to gather input, address concerns, and provide progress updates, ensuring that everyone’s expectations are aligned. Throughout the project lifecycle, they coordinate communication, manage feedback, and ensure that any changes are documented and implemented efficiently. This collaborative approach helps to minimize misunderstandings and keeps the project on track to meet its objectives.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a project manager representative?

To thrive as a Project Manager Representative, you need a solid background in project management methodologies, budgeting, scheduling, and a relevant degree, often supported by certifications like PMP or CAPM. Familiarity with project management tools such as Microsoft Project, Smartsheet, or Asana is typically required. Excellent communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills help you coordinate teams and manage client expectations effectively. These skills and qualities are crucial for ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope, and to the satisfaction of all stakeholders.

Together, we are the nation's trusted one-stop partner for residential and lifestyle real estate FF&E. Joining MHI means being part of a collaborative team within Empire, where creativity, design thinking, and problem-solving make a real impact on how people live.
Job Description
We are seeking a remote Project Manager to support residential projects across the region. This role is an execution-focused project leader responsible for overseeing the full lifecycle of Empire's residential projects-from design coordination and budgeting to scheduling, quality control, installation, and closeout. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-driven, and skilled at anticipating issues before they become blockers, ensuring every project is delivered on time, on budget, and to Empire's quality standards.
Key Responsibilities Project Execution & Schedule Management
  • Own the day-to-day execution of all assigned residential projects.
  • Build and manage project schedules, ensuring all milestones and deliverables are met.
  • Proactively identify risks, gaps, or bottlenecks and implement solutions to keep projects on track.
  • Facilitate cross-functional coordination between design, procurement, warehouse, and installation teams.

Budget Management
  • Create, manage, and maintain accurate project budgets.
  • Track expenditures throughout the project lifecycle and report variances or cost risks.
  • Ensure all decisions align with the approved budget and financial objectives.

Design Management
  • Coordinate with designers to ensure design packages meet client requirements, budget parameters, and internal standards.
  • Ensure timely delivery of all design outputs.
  • Translate client direction (via the Marketing Rep) into clear, actionable guidance for the design team.

Client Liaison (Execution-Level)
  • Serve as the day-to-day point of contact for project execution-specific communication.
  • Ensure client feedback is accurately captured and communicated internally.
  • Support the Marketing Rep, who maintains overall client relationship ownership, by providing timely project updates and addressing execution-related questions.

Procurement & Order Management
  • Confirm that all product orders align with approved designs and budgets.
  • Monitor order timelines, shipping updates, and product availability to prevent project delays.
  • Collaborate closely with procurement and warehouse teams to ensure accuracy and readiness.

Installation Coordination
  • Ensure installation teams receive complete, accurate information and are prepared for on-site execution.
  • Provide real-time problem-solving during install and ensure projects are delivered according to plan.

Quality Control & Project Closeout
  • Implement rigorous quality control checkpoints across design, procurement, and installation phases.
  • Conduct post-install virtual walkthroughs (with stylist or install team as needed) to ensure final product meets Empire and client standards.
  • Oversee project closeout, ensuring punch lists, documentation, and reporting are completed accurately and promptly.

Continuous Improvement
  • Identify opportunities to enhance process efficiency, reduce delays, and elevate project quality.
  • Provide structured feedback to internal teams to support ongoing operational and design improvements.

Qualifications
  • Proven experience in project management, preferably within the residential construction, design, or real estate industry.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Exceptional communication and client management skills with a customer-first mentality.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams, including designers and procurement agents.
  • Strategic problem-solver with an entrepreneurial mindset and a passion for process improvement.
