Job description

The Account Manager is responsible for managing key customer accounts, maintaining long-term relationships, and identifying opportunities to grow sales and expand the customer base. This role focuses on driving revenue growth while ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction and engagement.

The Account Manager collaborates closely with Customer Service Representatives and internal departments to ensure customer needs are met, orders are processed accurately, and sales opportunities are maximized.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage assigned customer accounts while maintaining strong long-term relationships and ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction.
  • Achieve annual and seasonal sales objectives for assigned accounts while identifying opportunities for growth.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities within existing accounts and develop relationships with prospective customers.
  • Develop strong relationships with customers by understanding their business needs and presenting product solutions and new product ideas.
  • Identify opportunities to expand sales within existing accounts through promotional programs, additional product offerings, and new product ideas.
  • Work collaboratively with the sales team to develop strategies and plans for new customer opportunities.
  • Provide insights and recommendations to improve sales processes, customer service practices, and overall departmental efficiency.
  • Work closely with Customer Service Representatives to ensure orders, pre-books, and customer requests are processed accurately and efficiently.
  • Communicate customer demand, forecasts, and market feedback to internal teams including Production, Purchasing, and Distribution.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and customer feedback to identify opportunities for product development or sales growth.
  • Participate in sales meetings and planning sessions and contribute insights to support departmental goals.
  • Represent the company at trade shows, customer meetings, and industry events.
  • Prepare sales reports, forecasts, and account updates for the Director of Sales & Marketing as required.
  • Maintain accurate records of customer interactions, sales activities, and account information.
  • Maintain a professional and collaborative working relationship with customers and internal teams.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and applicable health and safety regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

Education and Experience

  • Minimum 3 years of sales or account management experience, preferably in horticulture, agriculture, or a related industry.
  • Post-secondary education in Business, Marketing, Agriculture, or a related field is considered an asset.
  • Experience managing customer relationships and achieving sales targets.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel throughout Canada and the United States as required.

  • Strong relationship-building and interpersonal skills with the ability to maintain long-term partnerships.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
