Responsibilities 

  • Serve as the Project Manager for projects specific to Undersea Telecommunications Industry; working with internal teams, (Project Management, Quality, Reliability, Finance, Operations, and Marine Services).
  • The scope of the Project Manager’s activities is to support one or more projects (simultaneously), from pre-award through RFPA.
  • Work with applicable project teams to own/support the following project activities:
    • Manage P/L of project including increasing margin and revenue.
    • Develop project strategy to increase revenue/margin.
    • Develop risk analysis and project strategy to mitigate and reduce risks to SubCom.
    • Negotiate project changes.
    • Manage contract including terms and conditions, technical requirements, scope, schedule, and budget.
    • Manage the customer relationship, project notices and project changes. Establish and meet project objectives by analyzing contract deliverables and collaborating with project team members.
  • Achieve financial objectives on the project and review/understand variances. Informing leadership team of key project issues.
  • Promote a culture that reflects SubCom’s values, encourages outstanding performance and promotes positive work environment, as well as strengthening regional team spirit within and across other functions. Reward productivity as part of an ongoing process to establish SubCom as an employer of choice.

Qualifications

  • Experience in negotiations, managing the P/L of projects, strategy development/implementation, risk management, and contract management a must
  • Experience in managing large cross functional projects or leading a team on undersea or construction projects. Experience matrix-managing a team is useful.
  • Understanding of contract language
  • Demonstrated ability to solve problems within own position, across organizations, and with customers
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills required
  • International and domestic travel to support customer meetings as needed
  • BA/BS degree in an Engineering, Business, or technical discipline; and up to 5 years related work experience
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects while meeting contractual and organizational commitmen
  • Excellent communication, verbal, presentation and written skill
  • Ability to work well in matrix-style teams with persons from different organizations, job types and cultural backgrounds
  • Strong leadership qualities and the ability to complete assignments with little supervisory oversite
  • Excellent communication and coaching skills at all levels from the shop floor to top management, including the ability to speak, read and write fluently in English.
  • Strong team leader, ability to think strategically and execute tactically to deliver results
  • Analytically, data-driven and a problem-solving mindset
  • Ability to have a holistic overview of complex situations and flexibility to deal effectively with difficult issues when they arise
  • Must have experience with the efficient uses of office tools such as MS Outlook, Excel PowerPoint, Teams
  • Must be able to lead and communicate in both face-to-face and virtual environments
