Job description

Job Title: Civil Project Manager
Job Description

This role offers an opportunity for a hands-on Civil Project Manager to lead general civil site design and land development projects from concept through construction. The position combines technical civil engineering design work with project management responsibilities, including leading a design team and taking ownership of projects in a growing Orlando office. The ideal candidate holds a Professional Engineer (PE) license, has several years of design experience, and brings at least 1–2 years of project management experience, with a total of approximately 5–7 years of overall experience. This is a key role for someone who wants to take charge of awarded work and build an ambitious career with strong benefits and long-term growth potential.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage general civil site design and land development projects from initial concept through completion.
  • Perform technical civil engineering design using AutoCAD or comparable CAD software, while balancing hands-on work with leadership responsibilities.
  • Direct, mentor, and coordinate a civil design team to deliver high-quality plans on schedule and within scope.
  • Oversee the full project lifecycle, including proposal development, permitting, construction support, and project closeout.
  • Prepare, review, and negotiate project contracts to ensure clear scopes, schedules, and deliverables.
  • Serve as the engineer of record by stamping and sealing plans in accordance with professional and regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate with clients, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders to secure permits and approvals.
  • Monitor project budgets, schedules, and resources, and proactively address issues that may affect project performance.
  • Ensure design work complies with applicable codes, standards, and local jurisdictional requirements.
  • Contribute to business growth by supporting proposals and helping to build and maintain client relationships.
Essential Skills
  • Active Professional Engineer (PE) license, required.
  • Several years of civil engineering design experience in general civil site design and land development.
  • At least 1–2 years of project management experience following prior design experience.
  • Approximately 5–7 years of total professional experience in civil engineering (other experience levels considered if PE and PM experience requirements are met).
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD or other comparable CAD software for civil site design.
  • Demonstrated experience managing projects from start to finish, including proposal, permitting, construction, and closeout phases.
  • Experience preparing and negotiating contracts.
  • Experience providing stamp and seal for engineering plans.
  • Strong project management skills, including scheduling, budgeting, and coordination of multidisciplinary teams.
  • Effective communication and leadership skills to guide a design team and collaborate with clients and stakeholders.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Prior experience working in a consulting engineering firm, highly preferred.
  • Experience in land development and site development projects.
  • Background in coordinating with permitting agencies and understanding local regulatory processes.
