Role Description:
RHAU is seeking a strategic, relationship-focused Project Manager to help turn organizational priorities into well-executed initiatives, stronger partnerships, an increasingly valuable membership experience, and scalable operations. This is a highly visible opportunity to work directly with the Executive Director and help build the systems and relationships that will support RHAU's continued growth and statewide impact.
The Project Manager will serve as a key strategic and operational partner to the Executive Director. The role combines organization-wide project management, external partnership development, membership recruitment and engagement, operational process improvement, and development of policies, procedures, and SOPs. The successful candidate will be able to move comfortably between high-level priorities and hands-on execution while working within the direction and decision authority of the Executive Director.
The Project Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in St. George, UT and will report to the Executive Director. Position contingent upon satisfactory performance and on-going funding.
What You Will Do:
· Partner with the Executive Director to translate RHAU strategy into projects, work plans, timelines, milestones, and measurable results.
· Manage cross-functional initiatives and special projects from planning through implementation and evaluation.
· Build and maintain productive relationships with rural healthcare providers, hospitals, health systems, government agencies, universities, nonprofits, funders, and community organizations.
· Develop and maintain organizational policies, procedures, workflows, SOPs, templates, and other scalable operating practices.
· Identify process gaps, operational risks, and improvement opportunities and recommend practical solutions.
· Lead and improve membership recruitment, enrollment, onboarding, engagement, renewal, retention, and member-value processes.
· Prepare project updates, dashboards, reports, presentations, and executive decision-support materials.
· Represent RHAU at meetings, conferences, workgroups, and partner activities as delegated by the Executive Director.
Essential Functions:
Strategic Initiatives & Project Management (25%)
· Partner with the Executive Director to translate strategic priorities into projects, work plans, timelines, milestones, and deliverables.
· Manage assigned organization-wide projects from planning through implementation and evaluation.
· Coordinate staff, members, Board or committee participants, partners, vendors, and other contributors.
· Monitor progress, identify barriers and risks, and provide clear status updates and recommendations.
· Establish practical project-management tools and support implementation of new programs, systems, services, and initiatives.
External Partnerships & Community Engagement (20%)
· Develop and maintain relationships with rural healthcare providers, hospitals, health systems, clinics, governmental agencies, universities, nonprofits, funders, professional associations, and community organizations.
· Support identification and development of strategic partnerships that advance RHAU mission and statewide presence.
· Coordinate partner outreach, meetings, communications, commitments, and follow-up.
· Represent RHAU at meetings, conferences, workgroups, and stakeholder activities as delegated by the Executive Director.
· Identify collaboration opportunities and present recommendations for Executive Director consideration.
Organizational Operations & Process Development (20%)
· Lead documentation and maintenance of organizational policies, procedures, workflows, standard operating procedures, templates, guidelines, and administrative practices.
· Identify undocumented or inconsistent processes and recommend standardized, scalable approaches.
· Map and improve workflows to increase efficiency, consistency, service, accountability, and institutional continuity.
· Establish practical document-management, version-control, and review practices.
· Support implementation and effective use of organizational technology, collaboration tools, membership systems, and project-management platforms.
Membership Growth, Engagement & Management (20%)
· Coordinate and improve membership recruitment, enrollment, onboarding, engagement, renewal, and retention processes.
· Develop streamlined membership workflows and maintain accurate membership records and systems.
· Identify prospective members and coordinate targeted outreach.
· Track membership growth, retention, engagement, and other relevant measures.
· Work with the Executive Director to strengthen and communicate the membership value proposition and improve member experience.
Executive Director & Organizational Leadership Support (10%)
· Serve as a trusted operational partner to the Executive Director and support implementation of strategic priorities.
· Research issues, gather information, evaluate options, and develop recommendations for executive decision-making.
· Prepare project updates, briefing materials, presentations, reports, and other decision-support materials.
· Coordinate follow-through on decisions and assist with Board, committee, partner, and leadership materials as requested.
· Identify emerging organizational risks, operational needs, partnership opportunities, and resource requirements.
Reporting, Special Initiatives & Other Duties as Assigned (10%)
· Maintain project dashboards, work plans, status reports, action-item tracking, and management tools.
· Prepare recurring operational, membership, partnership, and project reports.
· Analyze trends, document lessons learned, and manage strategic initiatives.
· Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
· Bachelor's degree in business administration, healthcare administration, public health, public administration, nonprofit management, project management, organizational leadership, communications, or a related field; an equivalent combination of education and directly relevant experience may be considered.
· Approximately five years of progressively responsible experience in project management, nonprofit or association operations, healthcare/public health administration, community partnerships, membership organizations, organizational operations, or related work.
· Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, stakeholders, priorities, deadlines, and deliverables simultaneously.
· Strong written, verbal, interpersonal, facilitation, organizational, and relationship-building skills.
· Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and shared-document environments.
· Ability to travel throughout Utah and attend occasional conferences, meetings, or events as required.
· Must live in the state of Utah, or be willing to relocate to Utah.
Preferred Qualifications:
· Master's degree in business administration, healthcare administration, public health, public administration, nonprofit management, project management, organizational leadership, communications, or a related field.
· Experience with rural health, healthcare organizations, public health, statewide initiatives, nonprofit associations, or grant-funded environments.
· Experience developing external partnerships, membership programs, strategic initiatives, or organization-wide projects.
· Experience developing policies, procedures, SOPs, workflows, templates, or operational systems in a startup or growing organization.
· Experience supporting executive leadership, Board activities, strategic planning, performance tracking, or organizational change.
· Experience with CRM or membership databases, project-management platforms, workflow tools, or similar systems.
· Project-management certification or other relevant professional credential is valued but not required.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
· Knowledge of project-management fundamentals, strategic implementation, nonprofit or association operations, stakeholder engagement, membership practices, process improvement, and organizational documentation.
· Ability to translate broad priorities into structured work plans, timelines, responsibilities, and measurable outcomes.
· Ability to build productive relationships with diverse rural, healthcare, governmental, nonprofit, academic, funding, and community stakeholders.
· Ability to develop clear policies, procedures, SOPs, reports, presentations, correspondence, and executive-ready materials.
· Ability to use sound judgment, maintain confidentiality, identify risks, recommend solutions, and recognize when Executive Director approval or escalation is required.

Salary:
