Job description

USS has a fantastic opportunity and is currently seeking qualified and experienced individuals for a Project Manager position in Lemoore, CA. This position will lead planning and/or implementation of projects. Facilitate the definition of project missions, goals, tasks, and resource requirements; resolve or assist in the resolution of conflicts within and between projects or functional areas; develop methods to monitor project or area progress; and provide corrective supervision if necessary. Manage project budget and resource allocation. Meets or exceeds customers' realistic expectations for quality, productivity and safety on projects, and works with the customer to facilitate any changes in project scope and cost. Resolves issues on a day-to-day basis with employees, customers, and other project stakeholders. This job is onboard Naval Air Station Lemoore and Veterans are encouraged to apply.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Determine, define and oversee project scope and objectives
  • Predict resources needed to reach objectives and manage resources in an effective and efficient manner
  • Prepare budget based on scope of work and resource requirements
  • Track project costs in order to meet budget
  • Develop and manage a detailed project schedule and work plan
  • Facilitate change requests and communicate project updates about strategy, adjustments and progress on a consistent basis to various stakeholders
  • Manage contracts with vendors and suppliers by assigning tasks and communicating expected deliverables
  • Utilize industry best practices, techniques, and standards throughout entire project execution
  • Monitor progress and make adjustments as needed
  • Measure project performance to identify areas for improvement
  • Ability to control the profitability of the project through schedule adherence, reprioritization and cost reduction; influence and lead others in successful project execution; mentor others by modeling respectful behaviors; apply a systems approach to work planning and execution.
  • Occasional travel to Naval Air Station Fallon may be required.


Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma with 7 years of relevant experience, or 2 years of relevant experience with Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management or related field
  • 3 years of experience managing staffing demands in a warehouse setting
  • Ability to analyze program effectiveness to include ensuring compliance with all applicable instructions and publications, ensuring performance is up to standards
  • Experience utilizing relational databases to compile, organize, and analyze data to develop and track performance metrics, conduct root cause analysis, and develop solutions
  • Effective communication skills. Ability to develop and deliver briefs, both written and oral to various levels of personnel. Ability to resolve conflicts.
  • Ability to collaborate with government representatives to provide updates and exchange information and goals
  • Proven leadership skills including conflict resolution, real-time decision-making, high-performance expectations, and inspiring employees to meet them; developing scope change estimates; able to create metrics to support operational improvements
  • Military warehouse experience, military aircraft parts, or military aircraft maintenance experience is a plus.
  • Candidate must be able to pass a background check to work onboard the Naval Air Station.
  • A successful candidate will have Naval Aviation Supply Chain or Maintenance experience, preferably at the E7 or above level. Experience with the F-35 platform is a plus.
