Job description

Residential Construction Project Manager

Dockham Builders — Greenland, NH
Full-Time | In-Person

About Dockham Builders

Dockham Builders has been proudly serving the Seacoast since 1988. As a second-generation, family-owned and operated business, we have built our reputation on quality craftsmanship, strong relationships, and a commitment to doing things the right way. We specialize in high-quality residential construction, remodeling, additions, and custom homes.

We are a growing company that takes pride in craftsmanship, professionalism, communication, and doing things the right way. We are continuing to invest in our people, systems, and processes as we grow, and we are looking for an experienced Project Manager who wants to be an important part of that growth.

The Opportunity

Dockham Builders is seeking an experienced Residential Construction Project Manager to take ownership of projects from the initial handoff through completion.

This is a hands-on project management position for someone who understands residential construction and can confidently manage the many moving parts of a project while maintaining strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, trade partners, designers, and the Dockham Builders team.

The right person will be organized, accountable, proactive, and comfortable making decisions. You should take pride in delivering a well-run project—not just getting a project across the finish line.

You will work closely with our Production Manager, Lead Designer, Estimator, carpenters, trade partners, and clients to ensure each project is delivered safely, efficiently, on schedule, within budget, and to Dockham Builders' standards for quality.

Key Responsibilities

Project Management

  • Take ownership of multiple residential construction projects from project handoff through completion.
  • Develop, maintain, and manage detailed project schedules using construction management software.
  • Manage project scope, schedule, budget, quality, and client expectations.
  • Coordinate all project activities between clients, subcontractors, trade partners, designers, vendors, and internal team members.
  • Review plans, specifications, contracts, selections, and project documentation to ensure projects are properly prepared and executed.
  • Identify potential problems before they become issues and develop solutions quickly.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation throughout the entire construction process.
  • Manage change orders and communicate changes clearly with clients and trade partners.
  • Track project costs and help ensure projects remain financially on target.
  • Coordinate material deliveries, subcontractor schedules, inspections, and other project requirements.
  • Conduct regular job site visits to monitor progress, quality, safety, and overall project organization.
  • Ensure projects are built according to plans, specifications, building codes, and Dockham Builders' quality standards.
  • Coordinate project closeout, punch lists, final inspections, and client turnover.

What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Proven experience managing residential construction or remodeling projects.
  • Strong knowledge of residential construction methods and building practices.
  • The ability to read and understand architectural plans and construction documents.
  • Experience coordinating subcontractors and multiple trades.
  • Strong understanding of project scheduling and sequencing.
  • Experience managing project budgets, costs, and change orders.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • The ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Proficiency with construction management software and technology.
  • A professional approach to working with homeowners and clients.
  • A valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

What Dockham Builders Offers

  • Competitive compensation based on experience
  • Health insurance
  • Dental insurance
  • Vision insurance
  • 401(k)
  • Paid time off
  • Flexible schedule
  • Use of a company vehicle

Why Join Dockham Builders?

Dockham Builders has been serving the Seacoast since 1988, and we are continuing to build the company for the future.

We are investing in stronger systems, better project management processes, and an in-house design and pre-construction program. Our goal is to create a team where experienced construction professionals can focus on what they do best while working together to deliver exceptional projects.

This is an opportunity for the right Project Manager to become an important part of that next stage of growth.

If you are an experienced residential construction professional who takes pride in your work, enjoys working with people, and wants to be part of a company that is serious about doing things better, we would like to hear from you.
