Job description

Project Manager

EPP Resources, LLC — Owner’s Representative Project Management

ABOUT ENERGY PROJECT PARTNERS

Energy Project Partners (EPP) is a rapidly expanding energy project services firm providing project management, owner’s representation, field services, QA/QC, digital solutions, and technical consulting across a broad range of major capital and utility-scale energy projects in the U.S. Through our integrated divisions — EPP Resources, EPP Field Services, and EPP Digital Solutions — we combine people, processes, and technology to deliver industry-leading results.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Project Manager delivers owner’s representative project management on utility-scale energy projects — wind, solar, and battery-energy-storage (BESS) — across the full project lifecycle, from early- and mid-stage development and pre-construction through construction, commissioning, and turnover to operations, as a member of EPP’s Project Management Solutions (PMS) team. Acting on behalf of the owner, the Project Manager leads execution of all site activities, manages EPC/OEM and vendor performance and the owner’s on-site quality-control team, and coordinates the many stakeholders required to bring complex energy projects to completion.

This is a hands-on, client-facing, billable delivery role that often involves managing multiple projects with competing deadlines and resources. Reporting to the Director – Resource Solutions and frequently embedded with an owner’s project team, the Project Manager applies EPP’s owner’s-rep methodology to protect the owner’s cost, schedule, quality, and safety interests at every phase.

Reports to: Director – Resource Solutions     Division: EPP Resources, LLC — Project Management Solutions (PMS)

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Site Execution, Safety & Owner Representation

  • Lead and manage the successful execution of all activities at the project site — EPC contractors, equipment suppliers, and construction services — ensuring safety is the top priority for all on-site personnel and that OSHA and applicable requirements are met.
  • Act as the Owner’s Project Manager across the lifecycle — from early/mid-stage development and pre-construction through construction, commissioning, and turnover to Operations — often across multiple projects with competing deadlines.
  • Manage the owner’s on-site quality-control team (including the site manager and civil and electrical specialists) and ensure QA/QC measures are implemented and documented.
  • Serve as the owner’s primary point of contact with landowners, agencies, customers, contractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders.

Pre-Construction, Constructability & Design Support

  • Conduct constructability reviews, risk analysis, and change management from early-stage development through construction.
  • Support pre-construction design optimization with Engineering, Development, Procurement, and Finance — attending micrositing site visits, reviewing construction documents, developing quality-control processes, and optimizing project setup in Procore.
  • Support due diligence, permitting, and jurisdictional approvals, and provide technical input to EPC contract negotiations and technical contract exhibits.

Contracts, EPC, OEM & Vendor Management

  • Manage construction contracts and interface with EPC contractors, OEMs, vendors, owner’s engineers, and independent engineers.
  • Review and manage EPC/OEM/vendor schedules, budgets, scope, subcontractors, EHS plans, and permit compliance, and manage third-party integrators and suppliers through engineering, construction, and into initial operation.
  • Manage utility interconnection processes and the documentation needed for interconnection and testing.

Schedule, Budget & Cost Control

  • Manage the project schedule, resolve potential delays, update the schedule, and keep internal stakeholders informed of progress and challenges.
  • Establish and monitor performance metrics, schedules, risk profiles, and cost performance in accordance with company systems.
  • Manage and update the owner’s project budget, and manage, approve, and control invoices, costs, and change orders under project contracts within the approved budget.

Reporting, Stakeholders & Financing

  • Lead recurring project meetings — weekly contractor meetings and internal updates with Development, Finance, and management — and attend monthly on-site meetings.
  • Develop and distribute monthly reports on construction status, schedule, and cost controls using detailed plans and executive-level dashboards.
  • Coordinate with independent engineers throughout construction, close open items to support on-time financial closure, and manage documentation for stakeholder and project-financing needs.

Closeout, Turnover, Mentorship & Improvement

  • Coordinate final service acceptance inspections and punch-list close-out, and transition the project to Operations & Maintenance (O&M) and Asset Management.
  • Conduct Lessons Learned reviews and report out; contribute to internal operating policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Mentor and collaborate with early-career (Associate) project managers.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Construction Management, or a combination of relevant experience and technical certification.
  • 5+ years of engineering, construction, and/or technical project management experience; renewable construction experience (wind, solar, or BESS) required.
  • Ability to read technical designs, studies, and specifications, and to drive multiple concurrent projects forward on time and on budget in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience managing contract requirements, stakeholder relations, deliverables, schedules, risk, and cost performance — including invoice/cost control and change management.
  • Working knowledge of scheduling and project-controls tools (MS Project and/or Primavera P6), Procore, and Microsoft 365 / SharePoint document management.
  • Knowledge of OSHA and safety requirements (OSHA 10 preferred); valid U.S. driver’s license and willingness to travel to project sites.
  • Must have authorization to work permanently in the United States.

Preferred

  • Wind and/or solar project experience; familiarity with wind design and civil/structural standards.
  • Advanced degree / MBA and/or PMP certification; experience mentoring junior team members.
  • Familiarity with GIS tools (Google Earth, ArcGIS, GlobalMapper), NEC/NFPA codes, and Smartsheet, SAP, or Quickbase.
