An architecture and interior design firm located in Chicago is looking to add a Project Manager to their team!

Job Description

This role leads architectural and interior design projects from concept through construction, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to a high standard of quality. The Project Manager oversees project schedules, budgets, staffing plans, and client communication while coordinating closely with consultants and internal teams. This position combines hands-on design and technical production with project management, team leadership, and construction administration responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, manage, and track project schedules, budgets, and staffing plans across all phases of work.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, providing clear, consistent communication and managing expectations throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Coordinate with consultants and internal project teams to ensure alignment on scope, design intent, and deliverables.
  • Monitor project financials, including fees and expenses, and manage invoicing to maintain profitability and financial health of projects.
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in accordance with quality standards and client requirements.
  • Provide mentorship, guidance, and support to junior team members, helping them develop their technical and professional skills.
  • Create design plans and 3D renderings using Revit and Enscape to communicate design intent to clients and stakeholders.
  • Lead the production of construction documentation and perform quality checks on your own work and the work of team members.
  • Participate in the submittal process, including preparing addenda, sketches, and drawing revisions as needed.
  • Assist with permitting processes, including coordination with local authorities and preparation of required documentation.
  • Participate in punch-list walk-throughs and support project closeout activities to ensure completion of outstanding items.
  • Lead and manage multiple projects simultaneously, including scheduling, workload planning, deadlines, budgeting, and QA/QC.
  • Travel locally as needed to project sites, primarily within the surrounding region, for meetings, site observations, and construction administration activities.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture or Interior Design from an accredited university.
  • Approximately 8+ years of professional experience in architecture or interior design (with flexibility based on overall qualifications).
  • Relevant project experience in K-12 education, workplace, municipal, or library projects.
  • Experience with both ground-up and renovation projects.
  • Proficiency in Revit and Enscape, with the ability to use these tools for design, documentation, and visualization.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently across all project phases, including schematic design, design development, construction documentation, bidding and permitting, and construction administration.
  • Experience leading and managing teams and multiple projects, including scheduling, hours, workload, deadlines, budgeting, and QA/QC.
  • Proven experience functioning as a Project Manager on architecture or interior design projects.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Chicago, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $36.05 - $43.27/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
