The Opportunity


Aviva Canada is looking for a Project Manager to lead the end-to-end delivery of transformation initiatives while ensuring adherence to the Aviva Change Framework (ACF), governance standards, and project management best practices. This role goes beyond traditional project delivery by combining strong execution leadership with rigorous governance, financial oversight, risk management, benefits realization, and executive stakeholder engagement.


The successful candidate will be a proactive and highly organized delivery leader who can navigate ambiguity, drive accountability across cross-functional teams, and provide clear visibility into project health, risks, dependencies, financials, and outcomes. They will ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and in alignment with strategic objectives while maintaining high standards of governance and control

What you'll do


Lead the end-to-end delivery of transformation initiatives, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and aligned to business objectives.
Establish and maintain project governance, ensuring compliance with the Aviva Change Framework (ACF), project gating requirements, and delivery standards.
Develop and manage project plans, schedules, budgets, resource plans, risks, issues, dependencies, benefits, and change controls throughout the project lifecycle.
Prepare and present executive-level status reporting, governance materials, gate submissions.
Build strong relationships across business, technology, risk, compliance, finance, and vendor teams to drive alignment, accountability, and successful delivery outcomes.
Proactively identify and resolve delivery risks, issues, and dependencies, escalating concerns early and driving actions to maintain project momentum.
Ensure project outcomes, benefits, and business readiness activities are effectively planned, tracked, and transitioned into the business.
Facilitate decision-making, issue resolution, and alignment across multiple delivery teams
Champion continuous improvement by capturing lessons learned and applying project management best practices to strengthen delivery performance.

What you'll bring


Project Management Expertise
Proven experience delivering medium to large-scale business or transformation initiatives from initiation through closure (including at least one $5M+ project).
Strong knowledge of project management disciplines, including scope, schedule, budget, risk, dependency, resource, and stakeholder management.
Experience working in Agile, and Hybrid delivery environments.


Governance & Financial Acumen
Experience managing project governance, executive reporting, and steering committees.
Strong understanding of business cases, financial forecasting, budgeting, benefits tracking, and project controls.
Ability to maintain high-quality project documentation and ensure compliance with governance standards.


Leadership & Stakeholder Management
Demonstrated ability to influence stakeholders, build strong relationships, and drive outcomes without direct authority.
Experience leading cross-functional teams across business, technology, operational, and vendor groups.
Strong facilitation, negotiation, and decision-making skills.


Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills
Strong critical thinking and problem-solving capabilities.
Ability to assess risks, identify trends, and develop practical solutions to delivery challenges.
Comfortable working with project metrics, financial data, forecasts, and resource plans to support informed decision-making.


Communication & Executive Presence
Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
Ability to distill complex information into clear, concise, and executive-ready communications.
Confident presenting to senior leaders and facilitating governance discussions.


Preferred Qualifications
Experience within insurance (P&C preferable), financial services, or other highly regulated environments.
Experience leading large-scale transformation, regulatory, or enterprise change initiatives.
Project Management (PMP), Agile (SaFE), or Scrum (CSM) certifications
