Job description

We are seeking an experienced Construction Project Manager for a client managing commercial, industrial, municipal, and infrastructure projects. This is a hands-on leadership position for a practical, self-directed professional whose construction judgment and field experience are valued over an administrative-only project-management background.

The successful candidate will lead electrical, mechanical, civil, and water/wastewater projects from kickoff through closeout while maintaining control of schedules, budgets, documentation, quality, and client expectations.

Responsibilities
  • Lead construction projects through planning, execution, commissioning, and closeout.
  • Manage project schedules, budgets, cost performance, forecasting, profitability, and change orders.
  • Coordinate field crews, subcontractors, vendors, trade partners, and clients.
  • Lead assigned project teams without direct headcount responsibility.
  • Monitor project progress, identify risks, and take timely corrective action.
  • Manage project controls, documentation, reporting, and contractual records.
  • Support estimating and preconstruction activities, including resource loading and project planning.
  • Assist with manpower planning, site visits, sequencing, and resource coordination.
  • Visit active job sites to resolve issues and help keep projects on schedule and within budget.
  • Review cost data, committed costs, forecasts, and change-order impacts.
  • Maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, vendors, and field teams.
  • Communicate project expectations clearly and professionally across all levels.
  • Proactively resolve challenges while minimizing disruption to project momentum.
  • Use Procore and other project-management software to maintain accurate project information.
Qualifications
  • Practical construction project-management experience and sound field judgment are required.
  • Experience managing commercial, industrial, municipal, engineering, or construction projects, preferably with a general contractor.
  • Background in water/wastewater treatment, municipal infrastructure, electrical, mechanical, or civil construction preferred.
  • Experience with project scheduling, resource loading, manpower planning, budgeting, cost analysis, estimating, and change-order management.
  • Proficiency with Procore or comparable project-management software preferred.
  • Strong understanding of construction documentation and project controls.
  • Ability to lead multiple stakeholders while taking ownership of project results.
  • Comfortable communicating with owners, engineers, subcontractors, vendors, and field personnel.
Ideal Candidate

You are a self-directed leader who takes ownership, acts with urgency, and does not need constant supervision to move a project forward. You communicate clearly and authentically, adapt well to different people and situations, and enjoy building strong, collaborative teams.

Successful projects will be completed safely, on schedule, on budget, and according to specifications. The ideal candidate will protect profitability, maintain strong cost control, identify risks early, and create positive working relationships throughout the project lifecycle.

Travel and Physical Requirements
  • Approximately 20% travel to project sites, based on project requirements.
  • Ability to walk active construction sites, including uneven terrain.
  • Ability to climb occasionally and work around outdoor weather conditions.
  • Must be able to travel to project locations as needed.
  • Must be comfortable using a standard computer or laptop, phone, and typical office and field project-controls tools.
