Job description

This position supports public-sector clients by providing trusted project leadership, technical coordination, and strategic guidance. This role acts as an extension of the client's team, helping manage projects from planning through closeout while ensuring quality, accountability, and clear communication among stakeholders. Work may be performed remotely from a client's office or at an RH2 office, depending on client needs and preferences.

With your skills you will:

  • Interact directly with clients, review agencies, vendors, and suppliers
  • Act as a resource for clients' engineering questions (phone-a-friend support)
  • Review both public and private plans, specifications, engineering reports, computations, and drawings
  • Present at client, Council/Board, Commission and public hearings
  • Oversee field assignments and/or construction observation together with project closeout
  • Update engineering standards and details
  • Coordinate work efforts between multiple disciplines and departments
  • Prepare and/or review opinions of probable construction cost
  • Prepare and/or review project schedules
  • Assist with grant applications, grant compliance, and ongoing grant management
  • Prepare proposals, attend interviews, and prepare contracts
  • Interview, train, and mentor staff on behalf of client organizations
  • Review agreements, contracts, and consultant scopes of work
  • Assign tasks to and coordinate work with RH2 or client staff
  • Work collaboratively both in-person and remotely with teams in multiple offices

What you'll bring:

  • Bachelor of Science or higher degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited university
  • Current P.E. license in the states of Washington, Oregon, and/or Idaho
  • Minimum of 15 years of transferable skills and experience in the public or private sectors
  • Experience in water, wastewater, transportation, environmental, and/or stormwater planning and design projects
  • Experience in project management, preferably in a public works, development services, or consulting role
  • Strong understanding of engineering design, construction processes, and regulatory environments
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present technical information to non-technical audiences
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and clients simultaneously
  • Collaborative, adaptable, and client-focused mindset
  • Outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Experience with local and regional design standards and codes
  • Ability to work independently and apply sound professional judgement
  • Strong aptitude for problem solving that requires adaptation and modification of standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria
  • Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Excel, and Word at an intermediate skill level, and Bluebeam preferred.
  • Microsoft Project preferred at an intermediate skill level
  • PDF editing software experience at an intermediate skill level

Compensation Counts:

RH2 has an excellent multi-component compensation package built to recognize and financially reward our employees' contributions throughout their career with the company. Individual base compensation will vary within the range of $60.00-$75.00/hour based on skills, qualifications, and experience as they relate to the requirements for this position. RH2 values our employees' work/life balance and compensates for overtime at 1.5 times the base rate for hours exceeding 40 regular hours in a work week. This position is eligible for RH2's performance bonus, which is equivalent to one month's pay. Time in position, and individual and company performance requirements apply.
