Standard Job Description
Position Summary
This Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for leading and coordinating capital-project activities across the Intermediate Air and Missile Defense (IAMD) line of business, ensuring ideas are captured, proposals are vetted, and projects progress on schedule and within budget. This role will be part of the PAC-3 munitions acceleration and proposals team and will include ancillary responsibilities supporting those activities.
Primary Responsibilities - Managing Capital Projects
  • Idea Capture & Evaluation: Develop and maintain a systematic process for gathering capital-project ideas from all functional areas. Conduct preliminary feasibility reviews and prioritize concepts based on ROI, risk, and strategic alignment.
  • Project Initiation & Documentation: Work with project owners to complete Capital Expenditure Requests (CERs), ensuring all required data (cost estimate, schedule, resources, impact) is provided. Verify that submissions meet corporate standards and obtain necessary approvals before kickoff.
  • Schedule & Status Management: Maintain a centralized project-tracking database (SAP S4 Hana). Send regular reminders and hold weekly status meetings to confirm that project owners submit timely updates. Produce executive-level status reports (milestones, earned value, risks, issues) for senior leadership review.
  • Financial Oversight: Monitor project budgets, track expenditures, and flag variances. Prepare status reports and support capital-budget reviews.
  • Project Close-out: Verify that deliverables meet design specifications and performance criteria. Ensure assets are property capitalized in our ERP system. Capture lessons learned and update standard operating procedures and knowledge base.

Secondary Responsibilities - Munitions Acceleration & Proposals
  • Munitions Acceleration Support: Support the design, fabrication, and maintenance of manufacturing tooling. Support capacity projects including make-buy and make-where transitions.
  • Proposal Support: Support the generation of various proposal artifacts for production operations including make/buy plans, manufacturing engineering statements of work (MESOWs), trade studies, Basis of Estimates (BOEs).

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering (or related field).
  • Demonstrated ability to lead multi-disciplinary projects and use project-management tools
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes (machining, assembly, additive manufacturing), CAD tools, and DFMA principles.
  • Excellent oral and written communication; able to prepare clear status reports and executive presentations.
  • Ability to obtain a secret clearance

Desired Skills
  • Demonstrated proficiancy in SAP, Windchill, and MPM Link
  • Current active secret clearance
  • Lean / Six Sigma Green or Black Belt Certification
  • Current enrollment or completion of a masters degree
  • Experience creating proposal documents; make or buy plans, manufacturing engineering statements of work, trade studies, basis of estimates
  • Earned Value Management System (EVMS) experience

Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $104900.00 - $194700.00
