Job description

Job Title: Architectural Project ManagerJob Description

This role is ideal for a design- and technically minded architectural leader with broad project experience, particularly in Commercial and K–12 sectors. The Architectural Project Manager operates with a high degree of autonomy, leading complex projects from concept through construction while mentoring emerging talent and collaborating closely with senior leadership. You will drive design excellence, ensure technical rigor, and maintain strong client relationships, contributing to the overall quality and innovation of the practice.

Responsibilities
  • Lead design direction, technical strategy, and project documentation for complex architectural projects, ensuring alignment with client goals and firm standards.
  • Create, develop, and manage architectural models in Revit for Commercial and/or K–12 projects across all phases, including schematic design, design development, construction documents, and construction administration.
  • Guide, mentor, and support interdisciplinary project teams, elevating skills, collaboration, and overall project quality throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Coordinate closely with clients, consultants, and internal teams to maintain clear alignment on project goals, design vision, scope, schedule, and deliverable expectations.
  • Oversee project standards, workflows, and quality assurance processes from concept design through construction administration, including review of drawings and specifications.
  • Participate in client-facing meetings, presentations, and stakeholder engagements, clearly communicating project vision, design intent, and technical solutions.
  • Manage project execution and day-to-day delivery, including planning, tracking progress, and proactively addressing design, technical, and coordination issues.
  • Support broader firmwide initiatives related to design excellence, technical standards, and best practices, contributing to continuous improvement across the practice.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to emerging professionals, fostering a collaborative, learning-focused environment and promoting professional growth.
  • Ensure that all project work complies with applicable codes, standards, and best practices, and support construction administration activities such as RFIs, submittals, and site visits.
Essential Skills
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture (required).
  • 10+ years of professional architectural experience with demonstrated leadership across multiple project phases.
  • Strong proficiency in Revit (required), including creating and carrying architectural models through schematic design, design development, construction documents, and construction administration.
  • Proven experience leading complex architectural projects, preferably in Commercial and/or K–12 sectors.
  • Experience with construction administration, including coordination with contractors and review of RFIs and submittals.
  • Strong architectural design skills with the ability to translate conceptual ideas into clear, buildable solutions.
  • Excellent verbal, visual, and written communication skills, including comfort presenting to clients and stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor others, lead teams, and uphold design and technical standards.
  • Self-directed and collaborative working style, with the ability to manage complex project demands with professionalism and autonomy.
  • Architectural licensure preferred but not required.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience in K–12 design strongly preferred, with an openness to candidates from varied backgrounds who demonstrate interest or aptitude in this sector.
  • Familiarity with SketchUp for 3D visualization and design exploration.
  • Familiarity with Bluebeam for document review and markups.
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite for presentations and visual communication.
  • Exposure to BIM coordination tools and workflows is a plus.
  • Ability to participate in and contribute to firmwide initiatives related to design excellence and technical best practices.
  • Interest in ongoing professional development, including continuing education and industry engagement.
  • Comfort working in a client-facing role, including leading presentations and facilitating stakeholder discussions.
Work Environment

This is an in-office role, Monday through Friday, with some site visits as required by project needs. The position follows a 9/80 schedule, providing every other Friday off, with flexibility to align schedules around holidays for extended four-day weekends. The work environment is collaborative and professional, with opportunities to engage in continuing education and professional development.
