Internship opportunities are available to students attending an accredited college or university.

Position Summary:

The Social Media & Communications Intern supports the organization's marketing and communication efforts by creating engaging content, managing social media platforms, and assisting with internal and external communication projects. This role is ideal for a creative individual passionate about storytelling, branding, and digital engagement.

Essential Functions:

DAILY

  • Create, edit, and schedule social media posts across platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok).
  • Monitor social media channels for engagement, respond to comments/messages, and escalate inquiries as needed.
  • Ensure brand consistency in tone, style, and visual identity across all digital platforms.

WEEKLY

  • Draft and edit content for newsletters, blogs, and press releases.
  • Collaborate with staff to gather stories, photos, and videos for marketing purposes.
  • Assist in creating graphics and short videos using tools like Canva.

MONTHLY

  • Analyze social media metrics and prepare performance reports with recommendations for improvement.
  • Research trends and competitor strategies to inform content planning.
  • Support planning and execution of marketing campaigns, events, and community outreach initiatives.

AS NEEDED

  • Assist with website updates and SEO optimization.
  • Help maintain media contact lists and distribute press releases.
  • Sit on the Community Development Committee

QUALIFICATIONS:


To perform this position successfully, an individual must demonstrate regular, predictable attendance and be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge and skills required. The individual must be able to successfully pass background checks.

Education/Certification/Licensure:
•High School Diploma or equivalent, required
•Currently enrolled in a college program in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field.

Experience Required:
•Previous experience managing social media accounts (personal, academic, or professional).
•Experience with content creation tools (Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar).
•Familiarity with analytics tools (Facebook Insights, Instagram Analytics, or Google Analytics preferred).

Knowledge and Skills Required:
•Strong writing and editing skills.
•Familiarity with social media platforms and trends.
•Basic graphic design or video editing skills (preferred).
•Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
Physical Requirements:
•Sedentary work in an office or remote environment.
•Occasional lifting of marketing materials (up to 20 lbs.).

Working Conditions:
•Work is considered sedentary and is performed mainly in an office environment
•Travel 15%
