Job Summary:
Knife River is looking for a dependable Project Engineer Intern!
This is a full-time position during the summer break from college. This internship position is based in the Missoula office and the intern will be assisting with takeoffs, estimates, and other tasks.
The Project Engineer Intern position must be able to effectively communicate (both written and verbal) to all levels both within and outside the organization in a professional and timely manner. A few of the job tasks include:
  1. Assist estimators provide timely and accurate take-offs for estimates.
  2. Soliciting and negotiating with subcontractors in a challenging market.
  3. Analyzing blueprints, specifications, proposals and other documentation, to ensure estimates are complete.
  4. Consult with clients, vendors or other individuals to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues.
  5. Assist project managers and superintendents with project operations.

Knife River requires all employees to successfully pass a post-offer pre-employment drug test as well as random tests throughout employment.
Minimum Qualifications:
  1. Qualified applicant must be working towards a Bachelor of Science degree in Construction Management or Civil Engineering degree.
  2. Self-Start with the desire to learn and grow.
  3. Fluency in Microsoft Office required, MS Excel, Outlook, Word, Project
  4. Knowledge of Agtek or AutoCad -- preferred
  5. Successful applicant must have a valid driver's license and a qualifying driving record under Company Policy.
